So ...
We are supposed to be still having light drizzle.. unbroken, since mid morning.
We have just finished dining on the terrace, following a village tour and coffee, cakes and about 90 minutes chatting outside the village bakery..
Great to hear proper English spoken by our Yorkshire visiting members.
Poor old Steve was in shock .. Having received a phone call from the big town Post Office, telling him he'd left his wallet on the counter..
A Yorkshire man's worst nightmare.
We have gained just 250 litres
Of dirty roof water, so far.
Enough to flush the toilet for 8 days
It's still supposed to be raining through the night.

The weather has stayed literally brilliant all day, so this morning it was a walk on the 'Skyway' trail above Cheddar Gorge:
Then this afternoon it was down and across Somerset to the sands at Burnham-on-Sea:
........ and the amazing Leaning Tower of Burnham:
(The door and the flagpole are vertical!).
There are no parking restrictions on the esplanade from the end of September to the beginning of April.
I'll be returning!

Very quiet night, too quiet. We both were sleeping with one ear awake.
The first rain after 5 hot and dry months can expose cracks in the roof, so we have to be conscious in case there's a leak.
The first pitter patter , came at 6.30, and stayed for 15 minutes..
Then we heard distant thunder, rolling nearer.
We had a dramatic thunderstorm overhead for 30 minutes, a burst of hailstones and one final fizzing bolt of lightning, which blew our main fuses while our ears were ringing, from the thunderclap.
Calmer now, 22 degrees, more drizzle forecast .
There's 2000 litres of sweet, soft, rainwater in the cisterns.. Enough for 2 months, so far.
No signs of leaks and garden waking up demanding to be tended..
Where's my spade.., ?

So much for the planned wet weekend and official weather warning.
It's a calm 20 degrees, light SW breezes and forecast to be that way until Wednesday.. When they promise us 3mm of gentle rain.
Max temps.. Mid 20s.
So that's official then.
We'll just have to put up with that.

A bonus point for you Paul, it is indeed Blackburn Farm. I’ve already encountered language problems as one of the elderly farm family thought I wanted to know if they had a cash machine when I asked where the Elsan point was

Yesterday we had a great day around Brean in wonderful weather.
The conditions for flying the small kite on Brean beach were pretty much perfect; then we walked up onto Brean Down.
On the way up the many steps we were amazed to see this:
.......being created in the sand below.
We wandered around the Down taking in the sights of the fort:
and the huge concrete arrow pointing southwest:
......which was apparently installed to guide bombers to the practice range during WW2 ("It's in that direction, Roger Old Chap").
There's lots of other gems on the Down and by the time we got to make our descent to the beach the artwork was about complete:
I couldn't resist walking over to the huge image engraved in the sand by the artist.
Simon Beck had just finished his artwork as we arrived using a home made weighted sled with spikes on the underside:
He'd walked about 13 miles in 5 hours around the course of his sand art and was about to rush up onto Brean Down to watch the fast approaching tide return the sand to ripples.
A fascinating man and it's well worth having a wander around the internet for more information on his work.

It's known as 'T shee toil , those parts.
We have just come indoors, after helping the sun go down, by staring hard at it, sipping red wine until it finally gave up and dropped behind the horizon, leaving a pinky, purple-ish glow.
21 degrees was feeling somewhat nippy.
