The ground remains sodden from yesterday's violent storms. Today has dawned dry and bright with a light westerly breeze, and we've a pleasant 13 degrees. Some light rain later.

We've already got another band of heavy rain sweeping in from the south west, and this time it's falling on saturated ground.

We've a 12 degree high, but that's of no consequence compared to our amber weather warning regarding the local flooding and inevitable travel disruption.

Lewes bonfire society marches tonight in commemoration of the 16thC martyrs burned at the stake. I wonder who's effigy they are burning, and whether it'll stay alight.

The originally forecast rain has remained further south of us in Harrogate and it should remain dry for our rather circuitous route home avoiding the A59 closure. ️️
