Now I've contact with the outside world I'll update yesterday's weather report.
We pottered through the spectacular Tarn Gorge under a gradually brightening sky:
Then up onto the rim of the Gorge:
Where we watched the Griffon vultures soaring:
And found amazing flora such as the Pyramid orchid:
....and the Military orchid:
With it's little flowers reminiscent of a tiny soldier:
There were so many beautiful flowers. The Mountain Lettuce:
...and the Rock Rose:
..... amongst so many other beauties absorbing the bright sun.
Then down to the Tarn and under the Millau Viaduct:
An incredible piece of design and engineering.
The view of the viaduct from the medieval village of Peyre nestling hard against the Gorge wall is to be remembered:
Then back under and over the viaduct to head south to the St Michel de Grandmont priory for a wild camp.
Altogether a brilliant day in brilliant conditions.
I've said it before and really felt it today - how fortunate we are to be able to experience these wonders.
Colin ???
