Whale Water Inlet on Motorhome

Hi folks,
I have a query concerning my water inlet socket on my 2020 motorhome.
On the Elddis Evolution, the inlet like most, have the sliding upwards lid which reveals the inlet.
On mine, it looks like you just place a normal blue food quality hose in the opening as fill up.
I was told not to do this from a standard outdoor tap as the pressure is too great and causes water leaks inside.
I went along to my local caravan specialist and the salesman sold me a Whale Watermaster kit [Photo 1].
When I got ot home, without unwrapping it fully, I tried the adapter and it doesn't seem to fit well, and certainly doesn't clip onto the inlet as the saleman said it would do. [Photo 2] is the inlet I have on my motorhome.

Do I need a special adapter or do I just fill up from a tap reguardless of water pressure?

Looking on the whale Pumps website, I downloaded a PDF that states I just use a normal hose to fill her up. See inlet 3

Hi MrT. The Whale watermaster you were sold is definately not the adaptor for your inlet. The watermaster does regulate water pressure mains feed, usually because if the socket for it is fitted, it prevents the water pressure being too much and possibly damaging the water level sensor in a tank.
I am not familiar with your particular fresh water feed inlet socket, but is there any kind of electrical point socket beside it for say some kind of electrical point jack for a pump of any kind?
If not it will just be a mains water feed as my current moho has.
If you are concerned about water pressure damage you should look at in-line hose on/off tap (hoselock) so you can vary the pressure going in.
Looking at your photo the hole above the inlet in the socket just looks like a breather or overflow of some kind. G

Hi Nick, what you have on your van is the new Whale Easyslide Motorhome Filler.
See if this link helps in any way https://www.whalepumps.com/rv/news-item.aspx?News_ID=10303&FriendlyID=

Here is a link that mentions that it is suitable for using a standard hosepipe
The unit you have been sold would be for use on camping sites. You could connect that up when pitched adjacent to a tap, and (I think) leave the tap turned on all the time.
Hope this helps.

Hi Roamin, thats similar to what he was looking at. It does say suitable for the recommended pump but i dont see an electrical jack/point where any pump could be plugged in unless its an additional socket to the side of the water inlet! G

I don’t think this is a traditional pumped whale set up. This appears to be a departure from their old designs. 👍
Although a 12v version is also available for pumped systems. eg from a water carrier.

Yeah, It looks like a pump with crocodile clips for connecting to an external power source/leisure bat or just any 12v source. Well done. G

Yours in the same as mine, on a 2019 imala, take that back to the salesman, and use a standard food grade hosepipe, whack it in the pipe clip fill her up and off you go.
I do find shoving it in a good way helps stop it slipping out when turned on.

The fill pipe you bought fits onto a socket like this

As you can see, there are electrical contacts. When the socket is connected, the vans electrics operate a valve inside the socket allowing water to flow. When the tank is full, the valve shuts so you can’t overfill
The advantage of this system us you can’t overfill and it can be left connected. Disadvantages are that it’s slow to fill and if the hose splits it’s an expensive replacement
Your new filler looks a better arrangement.

Yeah your right. I had above fitted on last Moho, just an unnecessary extra expense really. Current 1 is just a straight fill. G
