is your recycling bin at home?

I'll get a few replies (hopefully) then explain the question.

Brown in Glossop and green for the compostable junk

WE have now one gray/blue big bin and a trolley with 3 recycle bins red black and blue, but i dont bother and used the recycle bins for engine parts, we bag the stuff and dump/hid it in the big bin, they never see whats in it as the lorry auto tips it up and in.

Plastics are grey with a blue lid and paper is a brown bag, ideal to blow away in our windy town.

Enough to comment on now.

I used to live in Bradford til I moved in with Liz in Leeds, Green for recycling, Brown garden waste, grey for landfill all free.

Here it's Green for Landfill, Grey for recycling and Brown for garden waste but you have to pay for the brown bins, and they sell, the contents as compost.

I don't get why Recycling is not green nationwide.

Its all a con, here they take it to the cave hill old quary and cover it up, only stuff thats recycled at self dump station not fae from me is bycycles which they sell on to a contractor, some are as new with maybe just a punture, i got one of a chap before he went in for free, fixed the punture and sold on for £30 to a bike shop.

Trev, the whole of Northern Ireland is a con and a free for all going by your posts!!! When is John Wayne going to head up Stormont?

Yes it is a joke by miles, the recycle sys was set up as jobs for the boys, as in you know who after the c fire, most of them driving/working in the sys are known as bandits, and yes under the shinney skin the whole of ireland works this way, you just mind your own biz and keep your nose clean & gob shut.

under the shiny skin? I've never seen a shiny skin in Ireland - north or south :) Plenty of extremely pale skins though :D

Well apart from the recycling bin I mentioned earlier we have a brown bin for garden waste and a black bin for everything else. Probably not green everywhere as folks may think its a green (environmentally friendly) option lol

Another thing they do in Hull which I had never come across before. Twice a year we get a letter from the council saying they will do street collections for anything you want to throw out on a certain date. This can be old furniture, white goods whatever. It amazing to watch, so many scrap dealers driving round that day trying to gram any metals before council lol Folks walking buy will take any furniture they may have a use for, its pretty good to see how much is actually taken before council folks get there.

Nowt wrong with up cycling.
