Back in the mid 70s, there was a spate of vehicle thefts in the West Midlands, followed by the return of the car a few days later with a sob story apology/explanation of the 'borrowing' because the thief's heavily pregnant girlfriend had been in his car when it broke down; so, the thief had borrowed your car to get her to hospital, and as a compensation, attached, please find 2 tickets for Dinner and Show at the 'Talk of the Town' for the following week. This coincided with the date of the subsequent breaking and entering of the house that the car had been 'borrowed' from ....So they take copies of the keys, return them for the £50 then wait for you to go out.
