Please don't wish your life away. With retirement and freedom to travel comes aches and pains. :-(

Many thanks Clive..... my old brain cells are turning to mush.

When first set up, I found the website was easy to navigate, but all these years later there are now a few broken links.

It's still a fascinating site for long range travel.
.

Only France and Scotland to date, BUT we are joining the Netherlands Flower Festival Trip next April and plan to push on from there through Germany and Denmark up into Sweden. Daughter and family (two Grandsons) will be there for a year. Planning is underway,

We’ve been visiting and travelling around the U.K, France Spain and Portugal since we first started in a VW Camper in the late 80’s
Luckily, we were both able to retire early around 5 years ago, and bought a new van so we could go travelling more. We also decided to buy a house in France and our plan was to spend a year or so travelling around France till we found somewhere we wanted to live.
But, as all plans, ours went wrongish , we found a house within the first couple of months, bought it and spent 4 years travelling back and forth to France renovating it including having to sell the van after 3 years ( and bought an old Winnebago to live in on the drive for 4 months) to continue funding the house. We still managed to clock up 10000 miles a year travelling around France though.
Anyway, the house is all but finished and we moved in last year, we bought another new van last month and are continuing our travels.
First trip in the new van was back to the UK and a 2000+ miles tour to see family.
Back in France now, planning to spend Christmas in the U.K. again this year, travelling in the van but staying in a rented cottage so family can visit.
Next trip is planned for 3 months or so starting in January to Spain and Portugal then a wander around south and central France and back home in Brittany. Then there’s Italy planned for early summer but no plans after that, yet.........

The important bit is to be retired to venture further and longer .We are lucky to have such a diverse Europe next door.
If the Q is seeking more uncommon destinations,we have done a few.
We did motorhome swapping for a few years with six months Australia and two months New Zealand at virtually no cost in vehicle use.
Iceland for a month.
Now six months in USA with our own van.
Interested in learning about people who have wintered in the Canary Islands and shipped out to South America. All require time.

Does anyone remember these two? Catherine and Chris from http://www.theworldisourlobster.com

They spent three years visiting all the 47 countries of Europe and documented the entire thing. We became good motorhome friends and met up a few times during their journey. They are Wardens now on the C&CC site in Kendal. I always wanted to do something similar (Well not quite as hectic) but the longest trip we managed so far was six months in 2012. Done most of Western Europe and as far east as Slovenia, 18 Scottish Islands including Orkney and Shetland and many years ago Ireland a few times.

I just tend to go back to old favourites now. I think we ran out of new places to go or places we would want to go.

We spent 18 months in Central and South America and visited every country. We had a really fascinating time and would recommend SA. Since we visited, a few countries have stopped rhd vehicles entering so you would need to do some research on a route. Getting there you can use Grimaldi and travel as a passenger on the ship with your van. Best place to arrive is Montevideo, Uruguay for the least hassle.
Next plan is to loop around the Black Sea. perhaps leaving end of April. More details to anyone interested.
