For us it was a 2004 Honda accord Aerodeck.

It was fully loaded it even had a really good sat nav, we had it for three years and the only reason we let it go was Liz didn't like the 180k mileage despite there being absolutely no problems with it all the time we had it, and she liked driving it, we PX'd it for a Kia cee'd 3, which was a nice car but no comparison, they stopped making the Honda in 2015 and prices are buoyant still.

This was the brilliant TV sales ad for it and how it was made, the car is still rated very highly, and I would probably buy another.



 
I also had three of these over the years and a couple of the early Civics, all good reliable cars.

Got to be skoda estelle,second by the poor handling favorite, all easy to service & work on, engines would do big millages, last one 314.000, cost of car £10 and got 15 years driving, beat that if you can.

Best for reliability was a mazda 6 bought new had it nearly 5 years never broke down or had a single problem with that car. My favourite car was an Audi S8 luxury and performance. The one I thought was the best fun and would like back today a proper 1985 Audi Quattro be worth a fortune today.

Now you're talking. I went up to the NEC Motorhome show with a friend of mine who had what I think was an '85 Quattro :)
My own Favourite motor owned was probably a 1989 Toyota Celica GT4 - Twin Cam 4WD Turbo and designed to be a direct competitor to the Quattro in the WRC Championship
This was mine (of course, cars back in the 1980s didn't have insanely big wheels and rubber band tyres)

Sold it after I got a Kawasaki ZZR and found the car was too slow in comparison :)

Probably after that my favourite would be the 1998 Nissan 200SX 14a Turbo Touring - RWD 2Litre Turbo with an Auto box

Lovely cruiser and so nice to drive. Needed to sell it to preserve my license as couldn't help hitting 100MPH every day on the country road drive to my Luton office.

I would love to still have either the Celica or the 200SX now. All the 200SXs of that model have been taken over as Drift Cars I think though :(


The car I have right now is possibly the best all-rounder I have had. Vauxhall Corsa 1.4SE. Owned for 6.5 years and cost me under £60 in unscheduled repairs in that time and does all that is honestly needed in a car. Not an exciting car in the least, but an extremely competant one that has lost maybe £3k in value in all that time.

Iv'e had a few Audis, nice cars if a little staid, always found them expensive to insure though
 
When my Escort TD was nicked we needed something quickly. The Wife said that some of her friends had Renault Clio cars. I pulled a face but looked for one as it was only going to be temporary. I saw a 1.9 diesel for sale (the first of the Clio diesels) and I bought it. That little car was an absolute flying machine and they detuned the engine in the later models (I know because I ended up running Clio diesels for about 13 years). I kept it for a couple of years and only sold it when I got sick of my Son pestering me to buy it. It flew along and you could be doing 90 before you realised. The only fault with it was that the front wheel bearings did not last long as they used the same ones as the petrol version (which they altered on later versions). Apart from servicing costs they cost me virtually nothing and did phenominal mpg on a run.
 
Loved my 1973 Renault 16TS which was the most comfortable car I have ever owned with its armchair style seats and superb (for the year) suspension. My first brand new car was a Fiat 131 Supermirafiori which went like a rocket and I was really proud of. Even got it reregistered in Norway when we moved over there, piss poor in snow though so I sold it to my secretary’s husband who wrote it off soon after!
However, although many may laugh I consider my current car the best I have ever owned. 4 years old now and I intend to hang on to it so have just taken our 4 years extended warranty. It is a fully electric vehicle, a Tesla Model X.
 
The Renault 16 was a really nice car & as you say really comfortable, And I loved the styling of the body, very futuristic looking.

Very similar to mine but mine was darker red. Funnily enough we saw one in France last year and it looked so small and narrow, yet at the time it was a pretty big car. My wife took her driving test in ours (automatic) and after she had been told she had passed the examiner told her it was the most comfortable car he had been in. The same examiner passed her some time later in a manual car and he complained that she had got rid of the 16!!
 
By coincidence the Renault 16 was the first brand new car I ever ordered, sliding roof, column change, umbrella handbrake, arm rests and everything. It was 1973, there were constant strikes, and after three months waiting for the blessed thing I cancelled the order and went abroad to live for the first time.

Looking back, it's hard to quantify and judge which was the best car for me, but the car that was the most fun was a maroon coloured mini, with a dashboard full of instruments. I drove it all over the UK and Europe, and it always got me home again, although I occasionally had to fix things beside the road.

The best motorhome was an AutoTrail Tracker EKS, that went on and on. We loved it, and it (yet again) took us all over the UK and Europe.
