What was/is the best car you ever had?

You dont have to get a mot for cars over 40 years old, a few more years and my old skodas will be over that, all my bikes are now.
I totally understand that an MOT is not required for a car of that age but I reckon that for my peace of mind and everyone's safety it's best to get one.

IF you are confident enough to take the car on the road then you should be confident enough to have it MOTd.

One of my favourite cars back in its day (1993) was the Mitsubishi brand, I was lucky enough to have two, a shogun LWB for family use, very versatile, used it for towing, absolute rubbish steering lock, bloody thirsty as I found out when I traded it in for a Land Rover Discovery and expensive to service.

But I also had a 1993 3.00GT, now that was a game changer back in it's day, I was young and stupid, any other car I would probably have killed myself in, it was way ahead of it's time, it had active aerodynamics that auto adjusted itself, 4 wheel drive, 4 wheels steer, twin turbo, it was a proper flying machine, it went round bends like a train on tracks, unbelievable handling.

I had a J reg Shogun SWB, loved it then GF managed to kill it.

1991 Toyota Corolla.
It's probably still purring along today.
So pretty and attractive, it got nicked.
Never traced.

Bought a new 3 litre Pajero Combi in Norway - loved it but very very thirsty. Combi means only 2 front seats with Perspex screen behind to class it as a goods vehicle and avoid heavy tax. Remove screen, replace rear seats and it’s a good’un!

That’s a novel idea. You obviously haven’t driven/ridden a lot of the stuff I have over the years lol

I don’t necessarily mean rotboxes with stuff falling off just things that would not comply with an mot 👍

When I was a wayward youth I bought cars from the scrapyard for as much a skindiver.

I was the person in the Isetta being towed through the middle of Buxton on a busy sunny Saturday in the 70’s. It was a barn find and I was helping a mate out (of course your honour) and of course the manky string we were towing it with snapped in front of a huge audience. It did have steering but no brakes working, we worked out that didn’t matter as the tow car would become the stop block. I can’t tell you how happy I was it happened at the end of Spring Gardens on the flat rather than half way up Fairfield Road which isn’t flat at all.
In my defence I would have avoided anyone and everything except brick walls and crashed it to stop it. The fact we had even considered using the tow car as a stop block shows an amazing amount of health and safety interest for 1970. While it didn’t have an MOT it didn’t have tax either but then again I didn’t have a license either 😂😂😂

I won’t tell you about some of the dodgy stuff we used to get up to, there could be folks here who weren’t about before H&S became a thing 😂😂

Your secret is safe with me Neil, been there and done that many times.

I think the car we have now has to be one of the best we have had it was bought new 8 years ago, and in all that time it hasn’t had a single thing go wrong with it and never had an advisory on the mot
Mercedes c class coupe.
I don’t normally take photos of cars that I have owned, but I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, this is the first and last time I have seen the wife wash a car.
Even though this is her car I always seem to get the job of washing it, otherwise it would never get washed

You should see Liz car, it's like a bloody skip half the time, I used to clean it but if she wants to fill it up she can empty it.
