Whats the scariest / most exciting journey you have done?

you must have been desperate for a beer Rob !!!

I was indeed Collette!

Luckily it was dark, and Julie couldn't see the drop. When we got to the Inn, it was in candlelight as they had a power cut and Applecross was in complete darkness. Having a pint at the bar felt like going back in time.

Bet it tasted divine though after that. I always think a beer tastes better after a near death experience.

I have a near death experience every time I go out Barry.

Usually when I get home actually!

I had a very 'interesting' sh*#ttin bricks drive home just last week. Not in my van I hasten to add !!.
But it was in a motorhome I bringing back up for my neighbour from way down south in Welsh Wales.
My first issue to resolve on the journey home was to fix the back box of the exhaust which had come off the donut & was dragging along the road.
A quick detour to find cable ties & got that sorted !
As a result of my detour, I had got lost and was making my way to Kidderminster to join the motorway there.
I had no problems when I set off but found that after a bit the brakes, after the first bite, the pedal would slowly sink to the floor - and no amount of pumping would help !!
If I didnt use the brakes then they would revert to working normally - as long as I didnt have my foot on it for any length of time.

Driving in the dark, when you are only roughly sure of where you are going, with dodgy brakes, the last sight you want to see is a sign
1 in 7 downhill - engage low gear & going on for a mile !!
Phew I thought - survived that ok - then immediately there was another similar steep downhill sign -then another !!!

That was the longest, scariest downhill run I had ever taken - all in a vehicle i had only just picked up !

I doubt the traffic behind me were not to chuffed either - but did I care ????????

The rest of the journey was a doddle in comparison - even if it was made last Wednesday, which was the night of the very very strong winds but I just took my time and got home eventually !

The van is now with the mechanic, who now has all the parts needed to sort out the brakes, fit a new exhaust, plus give it a service & should be fit to drive tomorrow.

A memorable journey indeed !!
