Yes non standard wheels and tyres are what’s known as a ‘declarable modification’ for insurance porpoises.One thing I can't see mentioned is don't forget to inform your insurance company

Primarily because anlloy wheels are usually bought to add pointless bling to a vehicle, that makes the vehicle more attractive to thieves.
Insurers will rarely sometimes also ask to see proof that the manufacturers loads ratings of the new wheels and tyres are appropriate. Usually though that’s picked up during a police/dvsa roadside check or post disaster by a loss adjuster.
Many people out there seemingly have no idea that wheels just like tyres have load ratings!
Post accident, loss adjusters love to recommend voiding or reducing the payout from a policy after discovering undeclared modifications!
Both issues can affect an underwriters risk and hence can be reflected in the premium.
Obviously even if there is not a premium increase the broker will probably still cream off an Admin fee!
