Which Club and why?

We're in the C & MC as we use their insurance and we like some of the CLs. We virtually never use the club sites. We joined the C &CC but only used one site, so that was binned. We've never joined Britstops as we just use pubstops anyway.

I'm in both. The discounts available in both can almost fully offset the cost, and the CL and CS sites are occasionally useful. For C & MC discounts see https://www.caravanclub.co.uk/membership/great-savings-guide/ , they also have a good discount on the M6 toll. C & CC get a good discount at Go Outdoors and various attractions. I've occasionally used the club sites and found the "friendly" C & CC sites to generally be more unfriendly and rule laden than the C & MC ones.
I thought about quitting the C & MC after using their insurance which is organised by Devitts and was truly awful.

2cv, what was so awful about their insurance? We’re insured with them, so I’m very interested to know your opinion please.

We are in the three main clubs and over the years have used their various services at home and abroad. We like the Red Pennant Insurance with the C&MCC, Meets and THS with the C&CC. Have used CL’s and CS’s. Not over keen on their large sites as we find them expensive. Some people do like the mod cons but that’s a matter of choice.

I had great difficulty with them regading my NCB. I provided evidence from each of my previous insurers showing 5 claim free years. They did not accept this and cancelled my insurance by letter. Luckily I arrived home from a period away in my MH before the date of cancellation and contacted them. The date that they planned to cancel my policy was extended but inconsistent. Eventually I had to pay extra premium as if I had no bonus. This made their policy much more expensive than if I had remained with my previous insurer. For ease of administration I remained with them for a year, glad that I didn't need to claim!
Had I not happened to retun home to their letter I could easily have been left uninsured but ignorant of the situation. Their telephone support was very unprofessional as were their actions. I have since heard of others with similar experiences of Devitts.
