I use an Ammo Box to keep my 'emergency' tools in that I carry in the van. And another to keep all the tie-down & peg-out stuff in for the Awning, Privacy room and Gazebos.
I'm sure you know what they look like, but there are different sizes - I have this size ...

One of the ones I had was crudely painted over with blue paint (signifies the box was used for Smoke type ordnance) so decided to smarten it up and personalise it a little....

I followed pretty well the identical process I use to spray vehicle panels, so prepped the Box by giving it a clean with thinners and carefully scraped all the stickers (ok - that is a step that the typical vehicle panel does not require!); Then used a Rattle-can Primer for a few coats and lightly sanded (for a vehicle I would use a guide coat to check all smooth but this is just an ammo box!); Then using the Compressor and Spray Gun shot a few coats of VW 'off-white' in Cellulose that I already had as bought it previously for some minor work on the van; The cellulose paint doesn't really need a clearcoat but I decided for the sake of resilience to do a 2K Clear in Isocyanate as this will give a very tough top surface (ISO is noticably tougher than non-ISO but needs great care to use good PPE if in any slightly enclosed area);
Box is cooking away under the IR Heater to cure the clearcoat

And once cured, looks nice and white (well, off-white anyway)

But that is just the canvas, just like my LT around a year ago was just the canvas for the final effect ....
Before After

.... I did the same to the Ammo Box

Bit of fun and I think it looks pretty cool :) (and pretty obvious which vehicle it belongs to as well!)
