Why not use your van in winter?

We use ours all year round too, off to the south of France then maybe Spain early in January for a few weeks. We tend to use our a bit less in Summer, too many bl**dy Motorhomes about.......

Wow, you guys are brave. My vans really old (1981) and the insulation isn't great at the best of times. Used her solidly for 6 months Apr-Sept but as soon as the weather turns I get scared of the chill. Also I'm not sure how well she'd start in the cold weather tbh. I am missing it though and have been wondering if I can build up the courage to take the plunge into the world of winter adventures. I'll be reading any tips with interest.

Post a pic of the old girl
If the forecast gets bad I just drop the water and resort to bottled water or go to the pub. Usually the pub wins.

Always up for winter trips. North or south.

Everyone says that but I dont find it the case. We are always away between June and October usually which includes July and August high season when we are nearly always in France or maybe the Italian Alps. Its all about the scootering for us though so you want to be away when its the best weather but I can honestly say this year especially September was busier with motorhomes in France than July and August were. I wouldnt go near a campsite high season and dont use them really anyway and I know they get really busy but the Aires and wild spots are fine.

Long days, great temperatures, plenty of stuff going on as compared to Winter like it is today? Cold, dark wet and horrible.

We have been in blizzards, driving rain, thunderstorms and never batted a eye lid , the only issue is on very cold nights the dog wants to get in our bed, but it makes a nice foot warmer so cant grumble
