Words fail me

To respect others you have to respect yourself, whoever did this has no respect for anything, hopefully, they were caught on video.
 
Bad Bad thing to do , but with our very mixed race population now there will be those from Countries that our Imperial nation has robbed and pillaged , and killed many of their relatives in various wars , so I guess that is UK now Look back over our History and see the devastation we have left behind , are we any better than the country waging war at the moment ?
 
If you go back far enough would you find any nation which was not "unkind" to another though, Tribalism goes a long way back, basically if you're not like us the attitude has always been we don't like you, but damaging like this solves nothing, Utopia will always be a myth.

Of course it solves nothing violence of any kind is fruitless note our war to end all wars well that worked didn't it, but my point is angry people will do anything in their Red Rage, that is why most murders between married couples etc happen?
 
What might help is if we put the arseholes who want to go to war on the front line, I reckon ten minutes of bullets whistling about their ears might bring them to the table to talk, but no they send young able-bodied men to fight their battles, cowards is a better description than leaders.
 
There are no excuse for burning tributes to lost one's.
The people who died weren't responsible for anything that happen in history, they laid down there lives for our freedom.

those memorials are tribute to all the dead troops they came from all corners of the empire to fight in both world wars , west Indian's, indians, sikhs africans troops, people burning tributes are just twats

Yes, our country like many others has some shameful historical doings to ponder, however that was the world then and its no good trying to apply out modern standards to those times. Far better to never forget what was done so that we ensure no repeats. As to, " are we any better than the country waging war at the moment ?" If you are talking about Russia and their soldiers, yes of course we are. I don't seem to remember any tales of UK or western allied forces committing routine torture, murder, rape, theft on civilian snd military persons alike as the Russian appear to have done just for the fun of it while attempting to loot whatever they can. It seems to me the average Russian solider is simply a murdering thug and yes our UK and western allied forced are certainly much better. Naturally there will be some black sheep among them but in comparison, they are far far better.

British military has had its moments over the last 50 years, and in the 50 years or so before that. It's difficult to discern whether these episodes arise from rogue squads/patrols or unofficial encouragement from local commanders or the 'I couldn't possibly comment' brigade further up the command structure. The fact that the public never know tells its own tale.

War is, by definition, an uncivilised business and, despite the Geneva Conventions et al, things are done in the name of war that would make decent people recoil in horror. One of the pictures I lost when my phone broke recently was the Memorial on the side of his house, recording the fact that Gaston Aimon, aged 25, was put up against his own house wall in 1945 and executed by a sole German Officer, whilst Madame Aimon was inside, unaware of events outside. Quite the sobering plaque to read

But, decent people would hope and expect that Memorials and Plaques that record the sacrifices that others made pro patria would be respected and left as a testament to the horror and disgrace of war, the outcome of which, ironically, produces the democracy that permits the 'expression', for want of a better word, of another person's protest by way of vandalism

Steve, Chauvigny town, which is not far from our village, I have come across three plaques to commemorate individuals shot by the Nazi's, and more during various tours else where in France..

Oradour Sur Glane is the worst atrocity town I have visited to date, 643 men, women and, children, massacred!

I had wanted to visit Lidice for many years, and finally made it in May 2005. Our abiding memory was of the total silence and absence of any birdsong as we both paid our respects.

Edited: The name is pronounced Liditser to ensure it is never forgotten.

We stayed at the Camping Municipal in Chauvigny in 2016, but I was too focused on the climb up to the town and the falconry displays to discover the Plaques ... I also discovered/revisited other plaques and memorials, but was struck in M. Aimon's case by the execution outside his own home whilst his wife was inside, unaware of what was to happen, and the fact that hostilities had ceased some 3 mpnths earlier. There is a Plaque in Ligny en Barrois to a 10 year old boy who was one of a group of about 10 young people who were arrested for singing the Marsellaise and shipped off to Concentration Camps, never to return; and a Plaque in Corcieux to 10 members of the Resistance who were executed by Firing Squad on D Day

I also found a lot of Plaques commemorating the Franco Prussian War where the Prussian soldiers committed atrocities as a matter of course. especially around Toul
