What do you do with old batteries?

I recently took 7 old lead acid car batteries to my local scrap yard and got £91 for my troubles.

Thats exactly what I did in the UK, and exactly what I do here. No point whatsoever in taking them to the tip and getting nothing for them, when they can be taken somewhere they will be bought.

Start filling them right up with water & they won't be good money for long. Same as people who fill pieces of pipe with sand & flatten the ends. Scrap is reasonable money & good return for what is essentially "rubbish" to yo, why spoil the job just to try & make a few extra pennies?
chill! It was a joke, I wouldn’t attempt to pry a few pennies extra.

Not that I don’t like a good joke, but if I can just interject for a moment, I had a 12v 20ah motor bike battery that went duff, a friend said to me get a Leicestercn battery charger from Amazon £38.95, it actually has brought the battery back from the grave, and still holding a charge after a week
