Have you started putting heating on in your van yet ( we had frost here today
Are you or have you drained water off yet?
I have oil filled rad on a timer when hooked up to mains at home
Last hymer I never drained water off either in tank or boiler and had no issues

1/ will you or have you started the winter process of heating your van yet ? Or when ?
2/ have you or are you going to drain the water systems ?
 
Always drain down boiler and open taps etc if chance of frost but don’t bother with any heating between trips out which is every other week.
Having the motorhome at home on drive I always open rooflight, windows etc when the weather allows to keep the iinterior ‘aired ‘ for want of a better word.
The only time I have had to put a heater in was when due to a severe frost the dump valve wouldn’t reset so put a fan heater in for 30 minutes to allow the frost dump valve to reset then just kept the Truma on until I headed out.
 
I've found draining the water is the most important as @Obanboy666 - learned through experience. I was caught out and the small diameter pipe to the sink mixer was forced out by ice.
 
I leave the night heater on the lowest settings and it uses very little fuel . When we go to Spain in February I dont think we will need any heating during the day time :cool:🌤
 
I drained mine a couple of weeks ago and will after every trip in the winter, also leave taps open. I leave a small heater to come on if the temperature gets down to about 5 degrees, just in case the draining left any water in the system.
 
Will start after next frog meeting ,put rad on timer and open all cupboard doors always done this and never had an issue

We do this every winter when the van is not being used. Water drain down, plus we have the heating on low twice a day. Once about 4 in the morning became it's usually at it's coldest then, and then about 7 at night. We only have it on about half an hour each time. We also put a electric blanket on twice a day on a timer. All in all it keeps the van in good nick.
 
Isn’t it winterised Gordon? I use heater whenever it feels cold or dogs start to shiver but keep water as full as possible at all times. Van is in constant use though :)
 
I generally dont bother draining down until January. I generally go to India or somewhere in Asia for a couple of months and then I drain down the water in the pipes, fill the diesel tank to avoid condensation. On my return I sterilise the water system with a bleach solution and am ready for off.
 
I always drain down from the start of October, as it is easy to do, and means each time I go away in Autumn /Winter, I have clean water, which tastes better in my tea. I also have a water mist extinguisher, which I remove, as they will freeze and maybe damage the release mechanism. It really takes very little effort, and a Truma unit is expensive to replace.
 
God no, away next three weekends ,then small break before going to Green Frog , another short break then away for New Year Rally.
Use the moho all year round !!
 
Went out this morning to wheel the bin to the road .... First ice of the season on bin top and car windscreen (and British Summer Time is not even over!)

Ha ha Dave, thought it was colder across the border, we had ice on van screen weeks ago in Derbyshire. Must admit though it’s a fair bit warmer in Wiltshire :)
