Get yourself back here in Hertfordshire.
No mozzies whatsoever - it certainly has some advantages over Spain

Colin :):):)
Return to Herefordshire ? ‘Tis a long time since I lived there. STMBO says Northampton is very wet, very cold, very windy. But very minus me.
I brought out with me, or rather was told to bring with me E45 cream. Works wonderfully 😀
Guess I’m fairly lucky, I do get bitten, but I don’t get the big red wheals*. They do look uncomfortable .
* touch wood.

Four lazy days in Mazagon had to come to an end, for no other reason than we had to dump waste . A trip to Gibraleon cured that. There was a Mercadona supermarket close by, so supplies were topped up.
On a recommendation from Rugbyken we, have come down to the coast at Punta Umbria. Metres from the sea, fine sand, what’s not to like. Even having to share it with Lin Da and Lee is worth while.😳
Great barbie last night Ken, thanks for feeding this weary traveler.
Shame the weather’s changed. I’ll claim no responsibility for that.🖕

It's great to meet up, a bit of a shame about the dip in the weather but I suppose wall to wall sunshine can't last for ever.
Lets see what the day brings.

Moved inland to Pomarao. Just in Portugal, and by just, I mean about 300 metres. Weather on the coast became chilly, here it was still in the high 20’s. Cooler this morning. We’ll see what the day brings. It’s so incredibly quite, only sound is the local bird life.

The festival at Alcoutim has been cancelled due to the health scare. And so there seems to be no point in risking going over my 35 day health insurance. I had intended to stay here, depending on the E111, for an extra 25 days. This virus makes that decision sound foolhardy. The news on Radio 4, doesn’t make me feel a lot more confident that things are going to get better anytime soon.

Enough of the negativity.
Spain, Portugal. Thank you so much for being so welcoming. Yup, even the Rangers who moved us on at Tarifa. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed myself. Much better weather than last year.

I’ve used more poi’s this year. Mainly because being in company makes me feel more confident. Picking peoples brains doesn’t hurt. Asking experienced travellers, is the way to enjoy brilliant park ups. I only need waste dumps, every 4or 5 days. The rest of the time, getting off the beaten track. I will admit to still having a reluctance to leave the van out of my sight for any length of time. Getting better, but still needing to work on that.

Luckly my insurance is for 6 months; so I don't need to head back till the beginning of June. Instead of travelling around I'm going to stay in the Algarve. Its been great getting here meeting up with Lee and Linda, Pauljenni, Rugbyken, Mobilvetta and others.

A walk through the countryside yesterday confirmed why I love Portugal. Rugbyken said it was Green Spain. I reckon that sums it up. Add in the two things that tick my box, water and hills. Perfick. Much better than all that culture stuff. RnV are doing that today, a church or some such, so I’ll take the bike up into the hills.

I received a complaint last night. Apparently I didn’t mention Howard. I have now 🙄

It’s the morning of my last full day here. Going to get a good long walk in before it gets to hot. Next week I’ll be back into the rain, cold and Northampton clay, how that stuff wreaks my knees. Tbh, going home is the last thing I want to do. But if this virus hits my family, I’ll be fretting about their safety. Me? Couldn’t give a .... Been through worse, and will again. If I don’t, you can call me a liar. I won’t be able to hear you 🙄
If it is RIP Trotter, have a drink for me. And I’ll do the same for you. You may have noticed, it staying cheerful, that keeps me going, lol.

After a long phone call to Nikki yesterday afternoon, it was decided that I should remain here, in sort of self isolation, along with other Motorhomer members, for the time being.
Although I refuse to accept it, I’ve been reminded that I am in the elderly, potentially in danger group. Having had pneumonia a few times over the last few years. Add in heart problems. In short, she says that she would be happier for me to stay here. As long as I’m able to stay in touch. That’s something I’ll need to work on. Vodafone is only giving intermittent signal of 1 bar 3G or none at all. While 3 and O2 are giving a full 4 g.
Apparently the over 70’s are being restricted to their homes in the UK 🇬🇧.
Retirement wasn’t supposed to be like this 🤬

Let’s hope the boffins cracks the vaccine soon.

My scribblings yesterday were taken by some as if I was feeling low. Not at all. I’m more than happy, concerned obviously, but happy enough. The grin is still there. Although, not a pretty sight.
I have looked online for information of how to treat yourself if infected. I’ve got a few ibuprofen, so treat it like flu?

Where we are isn’t paradise. But close enough! Daytime temperatures in the mid 20’s. An area of hills and a river. What could be better. Self isolation could be in a lot worse places. Northampton being just one😬

The French government advise very strongly against using ibuprofen, apparently it can make the attack worse.
They advise the use of paracetamol.
I react badly to paracetamol. This is going to be such fun.

Oh dear, the advice they gave said that ibuprofen and all anti inflammatories should be avoided but didn't suggest an alternative to paracetamol.

It has just been stated by a Doctor on the ITV News that if you don't normally have any reaction to ibruprofen you can still take it if you have to

Lee and I went shopping today. When we left the village there was a police car on the border. On our return, it was replaced by 3 x 600mm drainage pipes completely blocking the road. We might be staying here longer than we expected.😬. Lee has a photo of it. So have I, but he knows how to put it on here. Unlike me. It’s on the Spanish/Portugal border closed thread.
I might have said this before, this is a wonderful spot.
Joining a queue to go shopping was a novelty. A novelty I’d rather not have to get used to. It’s going to be a fact of life for the next few months, years, forever. I’m trying to convince myself it’s only a slight difficulty.
