We love how polite the French are. These workmen asked us to move the motorhome aside for a short time whilst they painted yellows lines across a footpath access point.

Before the paint was dry a French motorhome was parked with table, 4 chairs and a barbecue. We’ve a lot to learn from the French 🤭.

Nice ironwork in Florac. Must have taken the blacksmith hours to fit this railing through the tree.🤩.

Guess we just missed the Dressage then.

A really quiet night by the river in the Gorges de Tarn. The depth of the gorge prevents sunlight until 9:30 am, so off downstream for breakfast in the sun. Noticed local police in car parks on route ticketing motorhomes. Wild camping not allowed anywhere in gorge national park area, oops, we didn’t know, did we.

After a superb drive down the river Tarn, more rock tunnels than Lake Garda, we settled on our second campsite of the trip in Millau. We’ve seen the Millau Viaduct from road level a couple of years ago, so tomorrow we explore the view from below.

If it's any help, I cycled up to the underside of the Norman Foster bridge from Camping Des Deux Rivieres, having parked my van beside the river.

I've just checked, it's 6 years since I was there.........Where on earth has the time gone.

The newest bridge in Millau. Had to bend it a bit to make it fit the picture but it’s still impressive engineering.
2047D4AA-C860-4DFC-A2C4-8B861A06A4B3.jpegThe oldest bridge in Millau, just the two arches left after the 1758 flood washed the rest away. Did a bit of shopping in the weekly market in the square then had a swim in the river to cool off.

It certainly is a magnificent bridge, although I'm not certain Norman Foster would approve of your re-engineering it into an arc.

I took a photo of the Vieux Moulin too, although mine was from higher up at road level. I think your photo would be more likely to win any competitions. I love the way the sun acts as a halo on the mill's corner. Mr Shabbins has an eye for a great photo.

The straight bridge for the engineers out there. Off further south today.

Just arrived on a free aire in La Salvetat-sur-Agout with all free facilities. It should say welcome Yorkshireman everything free at the entrance. How good is this.

All French motorhomes. I think Oppy would mention la guerre at this point 🤭.

Great pictures. Getting envious. Enjoy. France for me, twenty days to go.😬

Unless Boris has a hissy fit🙄

Drove through Millau, missed this bridge. Just saw parked cars, and tat shops. Note to self . Must try harder.

Shirl started picking up walking maps of each town with places of interest marked. We also used to miss so much before.
Where are you heading in 20 days?

Just us and 14 French. We need reinforcements . But they are all polite and friendly.

Saw this wonderful church up on the hill. We‘re not into churches but decided we’d stroll up in the late evening sun and found a hidden medieval hill top village surrounding it.

What a surprise. Still going south today heading towards Carcassonne and the Pyrenees. Another heatwave is upon us so the mountains might make a good refuge for a while. So much to see up there.

Traditional village water supply, straight from the mountain. Flows like the wine here.

Normandy and possibly a bit of Brittany.

“ They are all polite and friendly “. Are you sure they’re French?

Really envy you two , but we just dare not to venture over there again , just to get turned around and get sent home . We will continue to watch your thread and wait for this vaccine thing , then were off

Lunchtime news today. Possible quarantine on return from France.
So it could be, delete Normandy, insert Hereford.

When does this “new normal” kick in.

Managed to get parked quite close to the old town in Carcassonne.

Even the church was doing great business.

Left Carcassonne and a quick skip down the road to Limoux. 17 French motorhomes tonight and they look like regulars. It’s like entering Dodge City.

The chap opposite has just watered about 6 plant pots and fed 2 cats.
Home sweet home🇫🇷

261997A4-78DC-41C7-ADA3-C302CB7AC388.jpegSet off south looking for lpg using the app. After 4 failed locations and around 50 miles round trip to Lavelanet we gave up and continued to Ille sur Tet to see something man didn’t make. Very nice overnight parking provided by Les Orgues.

Very nice miniature example of erosion but not as impressive as Bryce Canyon.

We’re a little too hot 34 here so forget lpg fill up in Perpignan today(might regret that) and off to higher ground.

Lovely riverside aire at Vernet Les Baines.
Thunderstorm rain and 28 degrees. Shirl is happy.

We thought we’d live like locals so we found the local laundromat and did a bit of washing . Scalding hot geothermal water running 24hrs. I didn’t do the hard work, my job was technical (photos).36BFE64E-455E-447F-8BCC-B37A6166D40A.jpeg
Drying facilities also circa 1860.

Next find the village water source.

Only need about 40 litres, that bottle should do Shirl. Extra day here while the washing dries.

Local properties could do with a tidy up. A real bargain for the diy person.
