The only green tick is when both are up, but the glass is designed to cover the knob of the ring(s) that would be under the glass, leading to the conclusion it is designed to be used with one half down ?

Given that you can easily access the gas controls with the right hand lid down...
I would say yes. !
And the lid is well clear of the left hand gas rings.
To me it looks a good design and maybe you could use the righthand gas ring with right side up and leftside closed.
From another post the lids are fairly heat resistant ?

Big big HOWEVER !
The graphics suggest nein no non.
Try google translate email the manufacturer or a main dealer.
Post a close-up image of the sticker !

Do you have a handbook ?

I think Jaxmanx has it basically right.

However, ref the graphics, they do say do not use right side with left covered. But they do NOT say do not use the left side with the right side covered.
If that was the case, then there would be corresponding label on the left side of the glass. When you lift the left side glass only, the warning label is not visible and so not applicable. (Any logically, why on earth would they have that split glass that also covers up some of the controls if NOT designed to use in a split (but correct) way?)

Personally, I think it is very clear... It is 2-burner Hob, or a 3-burner hob, but it is NOT a 1-burner hob :)

Why wouldn't you just lift both, unless you need the workspace.

No idea....

I personally thing the, warning label looks like don't use it with part of the lid down...
Big green tick with both sides up...

That along with the chances of the flames under a pan/kettle heating the closed bit of glass up and it shattering...
Means I'd just lift both up.
Chances of finding a replacement glass let alone at a sensible price makes me shudder.

The graphic very clearly shows one lid bad two lids good, I'd definitely go with good.

So Why have the cooker manufacturers gone
A) for a split lid And a fancy one at that
B) one that allows you to "gas up" the 2 left hand burners with the RH lid closed ?
Extra space is always handy when cooking !
And a finger hole on the left one to allow you to lift it; but none on the right one so you can't lift that without doing the left first.
Shame we can't read the warning text more clearly. The only thing I can make out is a warning that it is not a device to be used for heating (room, not food).

Yes, that is often the case !

i have exact same cooker & lid set up 2013 b544 normally use it (6 years now )right side down as long as flames are no where near the glass don’t see a problem

I noticed the top burner is a very small one as well, so well limited in its "flame throw".

The left-hand lid looks as though it goes extremely close to the right-hand gas ring (well across the central metal rod running from back to front), so I would suggest that the left-hand lid should always be up when using any burner, but (as Wildebus says) right-hand lid could probably be down when using left-hand burners.

It isn’t a 50/50 split, if you lift the left side you are over the half way mark allowing safe distance from the heat of the rings to the glass. What I would say is make sure your pans aren’t oversize for the rings, (think my smev says 20 or 220cm pans).
It has been done to allow extra workspace but still use rings.
How useful it is will depend on the individual I suspect but yes you can use the left side with right down but not vice versa. What would I do? Probably open both sides and then still use half the cocker as workspace 😁

It says when using gas appliances you must have adequate ventilation, and then I believe it’s saying not to use open flames for heating.
