As our trip to Portugal draws closer we are now looking at travel insurance, we need a 12-month policy with 90 days at a time, any recommendations on a decent provider? Thank you in advance .

We actually have all our insurance(house vehicle and travel) with LV and have found them to be way cheaper than others and no apparent reduction in cover.
Never made a claim,so don't know how good that would be............before the cheapnogood chip in.

Anyway Travel Cover for 2,(me with high blood pressure and very high intellect) cost £150 for multi trip 90 days at a time.
Strangely it is way cheaper than a single trip for 90 days......don't ask me why...................my intellect can't stretch that far.

Staysure always gave me cover when I was much younger. Won’t touch me in my dotage.
Good cover for the under 71’s.

If anyone can point me in the direction of a company, who will cover those in their 70’s, for longer than 35 days, at a sensible premium. I might be grateful.
Not being a millionaire, Sex And Games for the Aged, are to expensive.

We used LV Multi Trip iast year, Jeff. 180 days per annum, with 90 days max per trip, Premium £191, incl 2 x Medical Conditions for Elaine and me

Steve

EDIT: Renewal due today, so we cancelled because hospital treatment and Jury Service means we cannot book a date. The Annual Premium had jumped to £247, which is damn near 30% increase

Coincidentally my LV renewal came though yesterday and it has gone up by 23 quid to £175 for the coming year for their Platinum level, so 90 days in any trip, cover.

Thanks to all.
Last summer we used Avanti and have been guessing at £250 for 90 days in Europe (Sweden & Norway) for 2people.
So the LV figues at under £200 are promising.
Indeed my rough budget for health insurance was £250
Then we have the Tunnel @£250
Puttdarden Ferry and Oresund bridge £150
Internal Norway ferries and tolls £150
Ferry to Hirrtsals £250
£1000 for 90 days.
Realistically mabe £1,100
This is £12:50 a day.
Planning hoping expecting the cheap camping will compensate for the "infrastructure costs"
Yes the bad news is fuel will be more expensive.
My estimate being 12gallons a week (55ltres)
Price in Sweden today is just over £2
Norway slightly less

I have read that food (eating out) and booze is expensive over there but also it is cheaper if you are eating out to do it at lunchtime rather than in the evening.

Thanks and yes.
We toured in 2016 and I cannot recall a big meal out.
We like our own food .
Prawns were good value in Norway.
Swedish beer is sensibly priced but weak.
Almost no alcohol in Norway ! Bread and cheese good. Dead trolls (roadkill ?) a bit tough !
Nice 1 litre cans of beer in Denmark

Back to the LV insurance: I just did a quote on line and its 8 quid cheaper than my renewal notice!!!

Isn't there some new legislation about having to offer renewing customers the same price as new ones............oh perhaps it's just been abandoned....................... to feed the free for all frenzy.
Looking forward to Norway next year.............eating out .............are you mad Graham.................well perhaps eating outside the van.

As a matter of interest I searched for insurance a couple of months ago, we’re both under 70, but with a string of medical issues, not least my heart bypass op and her COPD. A 12 months cover from LV was just over £500 pa.
So I paid up and travelled, I can’t take it with me so I’ll spend so we can enjoy things as best we can.

Hopefully 3rd time lucky it will be Norway for us too.

For 12 months cover that is a bargain imo..I appreciate there may be a time limit on any one trip

Looking on their web site, I can only arrange cover 30 days in advance. I'll try again towards the end of January.
Of course, by then, all the rules would have changed.
