EV fines for charging them

Talk of Helium is just hot air
Naw. it's a gasman. I'm sorry, I'll read that again. 'Naw, it's a gas man', and now we'll play a request from Ethel Scroggs, for ;The Gasman Cometh', or at least we'll play the Flanders & Swann record ... Aah, Mrs Scroggs goes on to say that her husband works for the Gas Board and she certainly hopes that he'll cometh tonight, because it's her birthday' ...

It just occurs to me that our wonderful governments will eventually ban all new EVs too as they are so environmentally friendly.

I stumbled upon a YouTube video that analysed the referenced Times article. (see below). The vlogger suspect the van driver put his van on charge (something that should have taken less than 2 hours) and then gone to the hotel at the same services leaving his van blocking the charge point rather than parked in the area where hotel residents have an exception to the 2-hour rule. As part of his analysis, he noted that EV owners have been campaigning for overstay charging for some time to deter "unthoughtful" drivers from blocking the charge points. Basically, if you have an EV you are expected to return to it and move it as soon as it's finished charging or face overstay charges of up to £1 a minute. I suspect that will apply to those who have to park on the street and must rely on the public charging network -- you'll have to note when your car says it will be charged and get up in the middle of the night to move it (and pray there's somewhere within a few hundred yards you can park).
