LPG problems ahead

Tax is the killer, we get taxed more when .Gov wants to kill something off, or they fancy a yacht.

Swapped the gas fridge for 240v/inverter a while back ...
It doesn't use a massive amount over a weekend BUT 24/7 Over 2 weeks it's significant .
I was also fed up with it's temperamental nature ...

Removed the gas fire in favour of the eberspacher ...

So only gas use now is water heating and cooking ...
Meaning our 2 x 6kg Gaslow bottles should last us nicely .

Autosleeper offer a truma deisel heater option now ,at extra cost of course

hi yes its cheaper in Belgium the connector in the middle is the Belgium one . but we find its getting harder to top up in Europe compared to 14 years ago i know doesn't time fly . the motorway's is the best place just keep your eyes on approaching's the services for GPL sign .cheyenne

A gas fridge uses very little gas Baz so its not worth thinking about swapping a working one out, (and that's someone who has and loves his compressor fridge). Similar with cooking, very low gas usage there. Heating is where gas usage jumps up but by how much depends what type of gas heating and how much you use it.

If anyone is that worried I would say look at getting a diesel heater. Always depends how you use your van and how long you like being off grid/stationary for electric cooking.

Ah but ... come 2030, Neil, and we'll be told we cannae buy diesels anymore, so diesel heaters might become a victim. Now, for owners of historic diesels, Fairground 'Specialist Vehicles' [those opposite us at Burntisland Fair used to transport specialist goods for Argos and Iceland, 'cos you can still see where the logos have been almost removed], and users of woodstoves, none of which cause *any* pollution/detriment to air quality [must be the protective brown envelope surrounding the cash bungs to Council/Government Officias], the absence of diesel and/or lpg will not be a problem ... I think the technical term for the Green Agenda in its current and proposed format, including the costs and safe disposal challenges for the metals/plastics et al is 'utter bollocks and ill disguised corruption'

Mindless idiotic behaviour by some numbskull endangering other people as well as themselves...wouldn't the filling of LPG being Supervised stop this ? , I know manning levels & cost come into the equation but it is surely a safety concern for People that don't know what they are doing.

Far easier and cheaper to stop selling it than to put in safety measures. IF it was non refillable bottle filling we can probably thank this person for banging another nail in the lpg coffin but for now all we really know is that they are in hospital and the van was destroyed. Losing Morrisons from lpg sales will be more serious than losing MFG.

BTW, Brand New Diesel vans will still be on sale in 2030 and beyond ;)

Diesel and Petrol engines for new Cars and PLG Vans is currently due to be phased out in 2030 it is true. But new Diesel HGV Vans will continue to be available until at least 2035.

Want a NEW diesel Motorhome in 2033 and no longer got a C1 License? No Problem. Buy a 3650Kg one, and then once registered, downplate it to 3500Kg. Sorted.

The explosion would have required ignition of some sort, so a legitimate refillable may have gone up anyway.

if you have a auto fridge when pulled up to fill gas /diesel or anything else it will relight after 15min's for safety that's where the spark can come from . plus in south of France 2009 we was asked what we was filling up because someone was using a heath Robinson job & set the garage on fire back in those days so that group of filling station stopped you filling up with m/h's only car's . we always have our filler on the outside so if we are asked we just say underslung GPL tank but in all the years we have never been stopped filling up here or Europe. cheyenne

AES fridges are a pain, and I would always turn one off as soon as I entered a garage for peace of mind as you can be waiting more than 15 minutes on a busy day and who knows if it is actually 15 minutes, Dometic etc are not known for precision.

The Weymouth fire doesn’t involve filling with LPG because they do not sell it. The Wellingborough fire is the one where the suggestion is that filling a non refillable bottle was the cause.
