Southampton Rd, Brockenhurst, UK
Thursday, July 20 2023 - 12:00 AM
Until: Tuesday, July 25th - 12:00 AM YOU MUST LEAVE THE FIELD BY THIS TIME!!!!
(Adjusted for timezone: Europe/London)
WE NOW HAVE DIRECT ACCESS TO THE FOREST (NO ROAD) ON A DEDICATED PATH THROUGH A NEIGHBOURING PROPERTY. THIS IS ON CONDITION THAT WE DO NOT TOUCH NOR FEED THE HORSES AND DOGS ARE ON A SHORT LEAD. THIS WAS VERY FAVOURABLY RECEIVED THIS YEAR (2022)
Heads up: As of 1st July 2023 you can be fined for:
(a) feeding or providing or depositing food for consumption by any New Forest Pony, Horse, Mule or Donkey; or
(b) petting or touching any New Forest Pony, Horse, Mule or Donkey;
10am Friday - come and meet our new members - outside our van bring your own coffee/tea
The Happy Fryer will be there again on Saturday NOT Friday. Anyone need special diets please let me know by 2 weeks before, 8th July.
The meet is in a field, water, rubbish bins and toilet emptying. Please be hygiene mindful for you and others when you use the water, elsan and bins. NO FIRES, the area is very vulnerable, GAS BARBECUES ONLY supervised and off the ground.
Dogs are allowed on site but must be on a lead.
The nearest pub is now The Rosie Lea tea rooms, restaurant & bar, we will try and get a discount again. The Filly Inn is 1.1 miles up the road, the vineyard (see below) a bit further, The Red Lion is .8 mile down the road and The Fleur de Lys dating back to 1096 is a bit further on at 1.6 miles.
There is a security gate which has to be locked at night, arrivals strictly 10am (12am Thurs 20th) - 6pm. It would be helpful when you book if you could indicate how many nights you plan to stay and which day you plan to arrive.
FEES £8/unit/night IN CASH ON ARRIVAL IN A SEALED ENVELOPE WITH YOUR FORUM NAME, VAN REG NO, NO OF NIGHTS AND AMOUNT ENCLOSED WRITTEN ON THE OUTSIDE. No money, no entry
Please bring bags that can be tied/sealed to put your rubbish in before putting in the bin. Dog waste in a separate bin.
There is an hourly bus to Brockenhurst/Southampton and Lymington which stops at the gate. Will have timetable at the meet.
There's a huge very popular STREET MARKET IN LYMINGTON on Saturdays. http://www.lymingtonmarket.co.uk
The CAR BOOT sale on Sunday
Lymington to Yarmouth (IOW) ferry tickets info and timetable online
The New Forest Tour bus - will have prices/info at the meet
Lyndhurst can be a big bottleneck in the summer. If you are coming down on M27 take the exit for Fawley (but don't go to Fawley) and then follow the signs for Beaulieu (go extra slow there as there are often donkeys in the road) and then Brockenhurst which will take you to the A337 to Strawberry Fields. Beaulieu to Brockenhurst is quite narrow and winding, we get there ok in ours just over 7m.
Please let us know if you change your mind about attending, don't need to know why, to allow someone to take your place
STEWARD ON DUTY 10AM-8PM (12-8PM THURS) ANY ARRIVALS OUTSIDE OF THESE HOURS PLEASE PM ME TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS
How awful for you and I bet Elaine is absolutely mortified. Hope you mend quickly and it’s not too painful. See you at Rye with luckHi Sue, we have to cancel, I'm afraid. Elaine spilled a fresh pot of coffee in my lap this morning, resulting in Roaming Rog driving me to Borders Hospital A&E (after the Stewards became part time firefighters and hosed me down to cool the burns) ... I have to visit the GP on Wednesday for a dressing change and check to see if I will be able to make the Rye RFC Rally
I'll keep you posted. If my GP says we can travel, we'd love to attend, but it looks unlikely at present. On a brighter note, whilst we were waiting in A&E, Rog and Elaine were running to and fro with wet towels and cups of water to pour over the burned area, and it didn't take long for a sizable puddle to form at my foot. The look on the elderly couple opposite suggested that they were convinced my health problems were connected with incontinence ...
