It's a fine line we walk, I understand your feelings, but are we any better if we go back to killing people too.

I heard someone in politics say that the punishment is the losing of their liberty and that it would be wrong for prison staff to also treat them a way that made them humanely rue the day the order to 'take them down' was made. Ummm .... what PIFFLE. Hard labour, make 'em sweat and give back to society.....

.... and no person has the right to take another persons life, ever.

But of course you make exceptions for Soldiers Sailors and Airmen etc, all the Bible basher etc against the death penalty but forget the phrase an eye for an eye etc

So ...... I hope the do-gooders are happy now that we ALL have to PAY for a Convicted Murdering Nurse (who couldn't be bothered to appear in Court) to LIVE the rest of her life in Prison .

I think the burden of truth is much more accurate now than years ago. In this case and others with good proof then I would send them to a hospital where their usable body parts could be harvested to be used to save other people's lives. This way they can pay back to society for what they have taken away. Once processed their support systems can be turned off and if they survive lock them up for the rest of their lives. If at some time in the future it is found that the conviction was wrong at least they have given many people a life that they might not have had.

She won't have an easy life in Prison trust me, I was a Prison officer in the dark days, imagine her banged up with other females who have had their children put in care often not their fault but caused by circumstances created by their partners etc these woman can be very vindictive especially to child killers, think about Shipmans Suicide, yeah right watch this space, as for her not appearing in Court she should be dragged in to court with tape over her mouth to face the sentence, of course this won't happen but thank the stars that Parliament is going to change laws on this

She should have been given a doped breakfast, before the trial. Under medical supervision.
If I was a retired anaesthesist, I'd volunteer.

It was not the detectives investigating Ms Letsby, Ken; it was the opinion of the detective who led the investigation into Beverley Allit. AFAIK. that detective has no psychological qualifications to make that assessment, but it does bring him back into the spotlight for another 15 minutes of fame

Hi All Prisons have a Hospital but it is still Prison, several times I escorted prisoners from Winchester Prison across the road to Winchester Hospital we went by bus and the prisoner was always handcuffed to me or another Officer.

I didn't suggest that Hospital was not Prison. My post was in connection with a [unqualified mental health/psychologist] detective claiming Ms Letsby was a copycat killer based on Beverly Allit. I think you have quoted the wrong post ...

Imperfect peace is better than no peace, Trev. FWIW, I grew up opposite Don & Jean Tipper, the parents of Trooper Simon Tipper who was killed in the Hyde Park bombing [I'm some 9 years older than him and about 6-7 years older than his older brother Mark. I think Mark was in the same class as my younger sister. Seem to remember Mark being her first 'boyfriend' ...

Not everyone here including me had any interest in what went on, but it was always in the back of your mind where and when you went places.
My wifes uncle nursed the dying kids and folk at the omagh bombing, he never got over it to his dying day.

But I don't recall there being news or print media stories about the mental health impact on the First Responders, Doctors, Nurses et al; it was never mentioned, or acknowledged which is a dreadful oversight/omission
