next time it is due an MOT, take a bulb out of one of them and see what happens. Be a good test of the MOT Testers knowledge of the rulebook he is meant to adhere toMine has three on each side 6.33m longness.

I know, imagine an inspector failing a MH because the bulb in the awning light had failed. And not just your size but your type as well
Usual discussions but you could have stopped after post #5 () .
Mine tooMine has three on each side 6.33m longness.

MOT inspection manual: cars and passenger vehicles - 4. Lamps, reflectors and electrical equipment - Guidance - GOV.UK

Hi I damaged one of my side marker lights and found replacement on ebay, complete fitting with led bulb , my local garage also stated if light is itted it must work for MOT.I have lost some trim on my Fiat Ducato that included a side marker light. I have sourced the trim and a lamp holder but the lamp has been lost too. I cant find a replacement bulb any ideas where they can be sourced.
I have checked and a working lamp is not required for MOT as vehicle does not exceed 3.5 to but it would be nice to have all lamps working
ONLY mandatory lights ...Hi I damaged one of my side marker lights and found replacement on ebay, complete fitting with led bulb , my local garage also stated if light is itted it must work for MOT.
Because I didn't see any reference to side markers David.Reason for posting this?
If it is the bit about the marker lights, remember END outline marker lights are NOT the same as SIDE marker lights.
Hopefully the MOT Tester will also remember that
Out of interest, could anyone explain what this light would look like ....
"The front and rear end outline marker lamps on each side can be combined in one lamp."
One lamp that has the front AND the rear together? It would be an extremely long lamp, no? or an extremely short vehicle?![]()
Can't believe you asked this one DavidReason for posting this?

But an END marker needs to be at the END surely? So how can you have a front END marker and a back END marker combined? All you are showing there is a potential END marker which also just happens to have light in the opposite direction. Can't believe you asked this one David![]()
Loads on ebay.
You need to get out more
Pardon our interruption...

We already knew this.Because I didn't see any reference to side markers David.
It's getting to be like school on here.
Yes, they go on the front and rear at the extreme corners, we've had a couple of vans with them on.But an END marker needs to be at the END surely? So how can you have a front END marker and a back END marker combined? All you are showing there is a potential END marker which also just happens to have light in the opposite direction.
If you were to fit that at the rear of a motorhome, do you think you have also fitted a FRONT end marker?
Like the description says ... Those are SIDE markers. They are not END markers.
There are marker lights and reflectors, but they don't light up. The wiring needs replacing and its not a pleasant job, crawling on the mud under the van.Might be a good idea to fit them which may save some blind tw-t running into you at night.
Just might, better safe than sorry. There are marker lights and reflectors, but they don't light up. The wiring needs replacing and its not a pleasant job, crawling on the mud under the van.
If omeone is too blind to see a hulking great motorhome, I doubt they'll see a little yelloe light.
Might catch pneumonia crawling under the van. Better safe thsn sorry.Just might, better safe than sorry.
They dont do fixing over here, one bulb out and its a resit, no quarter given. They mark out the size as much as anything so it doesn't look like a car from the side in the dark.
If it was me and I didn't want to do it I would A ask the tester if it would fail if yes ask him to fix it.
Testers are not allowed to do any repairs during rhe test. Any required bulb out should be a fail, followed ny a free retest. They dont do fixing over here, one bulb out and its a resit, no quarter given.
You live in a shit country if we went by how you see it, of course there must be places that do repairs and MOTs.They dont do fixing over here, one bulb out and its a resit, no quarter given.
