Steering locks - are they any good?

My insurance Co asked if I had a steering wheel lock and offered just 5% discount (around £15).
I've always believed that locks only keep honest people out anyway and such devices will not deter scrotes for long if at all.
Can anyone honestly recommend a make of lock that would be worth fitting?

Bloody hell Trevor, did you make the Harland and Wolfe crane scaled up from that model? :)
Looks strong, but heavy
Thanks

Disklok.....

The only one IMHO worth bothering with...
Covers the wheel completely so can't be removed with a quick hack saw cut like bar types.Screenshot_20230930_073301_Gallery.jpgScreenshot_20221203_174531_Photobucket.jpg

Longer prison sentences for the scum that steal them would be more effective, rather than a slap on the wrist that’s seems to be the worst that happens to the scum bags.
And instant deportation for migrants that come here and commit crimes
Prison sentences would be an improvement, you’ve got to do a lot worse than nick a van to see the inside of a cell nowadays.
Aggregated taking without consent carries a maximum 6 months, but the actual sentences rarely see cell time, a local Lad has been done 3 times and still hasn’t been sent down. Rant over…

Well at the moment you can be put inside for a long time for "hurty words" on social media whilst letting proper "criminals " out early as well as not putting them inside...something wrong I think!

You could not be more wrong. Longer prison sentences increase recividism, not reduce it.
Bigots like to promote simplistic 'fixes' that make things worse. Don't be taken in by their lies.
However, an effective police force might improve things a bit.
Your racist attack on migrants would include us all. Every single person is a migrant or descended from a migrant.

It wasn’t a racist attack I am saying anyone that wants to come to this country to live should be made aware that if they commit a crime then they will be deported,
We have enough of our own grown criminals, but unfortunately we cannot deport them, but surely people coming from other countries to live here if they commit a crime then we don’t need them and should deport them.
Nothing racist about it.

Disklok for me, but knowing that it will deter rather than prevent. With the tools available today a determined thief can remove any type of device.
agreed.
It is all about putting the casual scrote off and delaying the persistant scumbags.

I might well buy a steering lock. Actually, I do have one.
Don't use it much TBH as if I was parked in a place that I felt I needed it, I wouldn't leave the van in the first place. But ... I certainly wouldn't accept a £15 discount off my insurance on the basis of having a steering wheel lock as if I didn't use it and the van was stolen, would that give the insurance company a get-out clause to avoid a proper payout?
No, no discounts for Steering locks, alarms, trackers or dash cams for me thanks - gives them too much wiggle-room.

We only ever had one van with a deterrent and it had a removable steering wheel.

It also had deadlocks on all the doors, and the doors were also alarmed when the van was occupied, one of the nicest layout we ever had, Bessacar E745.

A removable steering wheel would be OK if it fitted in your pocket, but the reality is that you'd leave it in the van.
A steering wheel lock or pedal.lock would be a really nasty thing to be struck by if you were in a crash.
Either of these would be a daily chore.
A tracker is worth having, and maybe an aftermarket immobiliser if the factory-fitted one is easily bypassed.
More that that, perhaps the pain outweighs the gain.
