Spent all day gutting the van and deep cleaning it after new year meeting
Only got supplies to put in fill water up,tyres pressures and power wash at yard tomorrow then off to newhaven on Sunday to cross the pond cannot wait now phew

Hmmmmmmm, is there not another member crossing same day?

We got back to Fife about 4pm this afternoon, Gordon. Arrived Portsmouth 22:15pm last night to find a Diversion on the M27 which was closed between Junctions 8-5 inclusive, so a 'round the houses' detour of side streets, including one with a set of traffic lights nested inside the Diversion!

Consequently, the drive to the Hagley Bypass in hissing rain and wind was even more tortuous, delaying arrival until 00:30 this morning! Crashed out until this morning, stopping 12 miles up the road at Asda Oldbury [J2 M5 North] to refill the diesel and then clog down to Fife without a stop to beat the Friday afternoon rush - 337 miles!

What a disappointment reality is - it's very overrated ...

Waiting for the delivery of a new mattress from Bodymould Mattresses of Rusper, West Sussex for the dropdown bed. We bought a Mattress Topper from them almost 5 years ago as a 'temporary fix' for the failing main Mattress, and it finally gave up the ghost on the recent 90 day Spanish trip, very early on. It's been the most uncomfortable sleeping and has played havoc with my dodgy hips!

Bodymould are really good - materials are good, they offer custom-made dimensions [including the 10cm x 10cm 45 degree chamfer for the bottom of the bed nearest the Hab Door] and any thickness without extra charges, and offer a 24 hour delivery from completion of order via DPD. We originally chose a 15cm thick Mattress [Burstner original was 10cm] but changed the order to 12cm to minimise the weight on the bed motor to save about 6kg and £60.

Collected a pair of new duvets yesterday [4.5 tog + 10.5 tog] to reduce weight a little more compared against the king-sized 5 ton spare duvet from the French hovel sale that was too good to throw away, but far too big for the bed ...

Ordered a second set of crockery for the M/Home to save carting half of the house set to and fro. Today will be the start of the overdue 'empty all the redundant kit' that has accumulated over the last 2-3 years to free up more weight, and next week it's off to @wildebus for new Lithium 320Ah battery, extra Solar Panel, Potable Solar Panel + Extension Lead + separate MPPT Controller, new Victron B2B and replacement of USB Charging Sockets with combination USB-A/USB-C quicker charging sockets

Then I shall need to find out whether 'insolvent' is *not* the spray on cleaner before the application of the Sikaflex adhesive ... . Wonder whether Bank of Scotland would be interested in a sponsorship panel on the back of the Van [hidden by the Bike Rack ...]

I know Solar Panels are meant to be waterproof, but I wouldn't describe them as Potable .

In that list you forgot about the plumbing Don't worry, I do a good rate on Aires ... the 5th night is half the usual price

Thanks to great advice from some members and the amazing Alpha batteries, I replaced the two leisure batteries with a single lifepo4. The van now feels like it's been on the fat jabs and lost 20+ kilos instantly

Decent stash of currency notes from the closure of the French Bank Account almost 18 months ago, Chris. But most expenditure on the Credit Card, Diesel dirt cheap in Spain [cheap Venezuelan oil, I believe ...] and fruit and veg around 30% cheaper than UK [and must better quality].

New mattress arrived just before 6pm and installed tonight. Although I opted for the 12cm thickness, partly to save weight, because the drop down bed mattress and bedding must not exceed 40kg], I could just about have managed with the weight of the 15cm version, Will probably renew the Mattress in 3 years, so will be able to uprate at that stage.

Took lots of pics, inside & out of our self build camper. Then printed the best ones out, added the necessary paperwork to change vehicle type to Motor Caravan. All posted off to DVLA.
