How have you decorated your motorhome?

We all like to put our own stamp on our homes but does the same happen to our moveable ones? I don't necessarily mean furnishings and curtains - although that comes into it too I guess - but other personal stuff that doesn't really have a use other than decoration. Do you have pictures or photos on display or other ornaments and knick-knacks.

The new series of Doctor Who starts today and it made me think of the painting I've got in Birdie of the Tardis. Yes, I'm a Doctor Who fan but it seemed appropriate too because my motorhome is just like a Tardis... takes me away on adventures and seems much bigger on the inside :ROFLMAO: I've also got a postcard from a trip to Scotland of a cartoon 'Heilan Coo' and a little mug that I don't actually use, from Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria.

So what do you have decorating your home from home?

I think we must be rather dull. Previously we've changed virtually nothing on our campers, preferring to keep them in exactly the condition they left the factory.

I suspect I'll make some minor tweaks in the bathroom of our current van, but being me, I'll spend ages reflecting on what looks right....... and won't reflect the resale value.

Rae, I do like those personal touches.

I am still finishing off the interior in my van, but will be adding some personal touches once I do, in tune with my "safari" theme, such as wooden fruit bowls and the like.
I will almost certainly be doing a bit of recycling of curtains. My mum (who is no longer with us) made a complete set of curtains with a rather unusual material (prints of prehistoric cave paintings) for a new flat I moved into over 20 years ago. They'll need resizing of course, but will have plenty of curtain pieces to work with for curtains all round plus cab curtain dividers, and will keep her old work alive :)
(just need to find someone to rework them as I am not amazing on the sewing machine!)

OMG Rae, I love the patchwork bedding and the little cafe curtains in the Bedford, not to mention the crystal vase and tulips

Am I the only person with paintings/pictures and knick-knacks though? Surely not...

I doubt it :) I would have some pictures up except I have windows all round! (may have a few shortish ones in the space between Windows and ceiling top?)

An African freize would look great! Or disjointed, like a triptych maybe?
Mine's mostly windows too with cupboards above but there's a shelf instead of a cupboard in one spot, so that's my little art corner.
I wish the fridge was magnetic like the one at home, then I could indulge a bit more :)

As you know, I did the same Linda. I had the whole thing reupholstered yet still use the covers that I made when we first got the van. At least now I can take them off when necessary, without shuddering at the awful fabric underneath!

We have touch lamps in the back where the seating area is but they were already in the van when we bought it,and I normally have a cushion in just for me for my back but otherwise nothing else (yet)!!

Family photos up in fames, but changed the glass to Perspex in case of shattering. Use 3M Command stickies to attach to walls.
Also some postcards of art we liked ... mostly from Scotland.
J was given an old B&W pic of an elderly lady standing in front of a Irish shop front with his name over the door. The only piece of wall large enough to take it was over the toilet!
But if is a balance - personalising vs over crowding in such a small space.

I LOVE the bone china. Like most people I gave away the stuff my folks had when I cleared out their house. A friend has built his own van and has a cupboard dedicated to a bone china tea set complete with teapot, sugar bowl and milk jug. It comes out regularly when a crowd of us are out together. Now other friends are going down that route and at our last gettogether there were 3 complete sets.

Jennie on a lot of fridges you can change the front panel, have a look and see if you can get a metallic decorated sheet in there

I’m afraid we just have our crockery, a couple of cushions and the bedding. No vases or flowers as they tend to fall over when we are travelling! I guess if we stay in one place longer than a couple of days, some flowers might look nice, but we rarely do.

We have a Chinese new years tassel which we have had in various Motorhomes, plastic green crawling sniper soldier which lives in the Motorhome, jackrussell lives here sticker, throws & cushions

A refurb last year to get rid of the awful upholstery and curtains (they were too much like an old caravan), new decals on the front, back and sides (after removing the horrible CI Cypro ones), a mirror by the door to check you look OK before going out (it also makes the space in the van appear bigger) and a nice quilt cover on the fixed bed. Other than that no unnecessary clutter to have to sort out every time you travel. We tend to move on every morning so couldn't be bothered with ornaments, flowers, etc. Less is definitely more............

Not into ornaments etc ,i just like things to work and be practical, all else to me is just sh one t.
