I have vinyl on the floor but was going to carpet her but the boss thinks I’m nuts as we hope to move on from her this term .just felt I should’ve done it long ago but curious what others have and think
Cheers for any replies

We gave vinyl and have bought mats for the living and kitchen areas.
We find it easier to keep clean as all you need to do is shake/brush the mats and sweep the floor, with occasionally washing the floor.
We had carpet in the last van and without a vacuum it was difficult to keep clean.

We are having Altro flooring, and mats at entrance and strategic points...not sure yet where! One reason is the dog, another, Daves inability to notice dirty feet till too late:rolleyes:. Seemed like a hard wearing option really, especially as we will be travelling a lot in the wintertime when mud abounds!

I put a textured vinyl in mine with a couple of mats to shake out,the dog makes a lot of mess so it's easy to keep clean and he can also get a bit of grip on the vinyl.

Wood, underlay, fitted carpets, that plastic stuff with spikes then mats, onboard hoover and rechargeable Dyson,
New van industrial vinyl and mats

We have a vinyl floor with removable carpets.
Helen had the brilliant idea of using Bathroom type mats from IKEA to cover the vinyl or carpet. Very cheap and when dirty change them and then when we get home just shove them in the washer.
Job done.

We have had carpets in all our other vans, but when we bought this one, no carpets were included anywhere because it has a heated floor, so we have textured vinyl flooring and now see the benefits of no carpets, especially with a dog who likes rolling in the sand if we go near a beach!

As for flooring material it all depends on what or rather who is using your van.

If, like my most beloved and myself we never ever wear outside footwear in the van you can get away with carpets, but if, like us we also have 3 gorgeous dogs who go with us everywhere then the only sensible flooring to have is vinyl with barrier mat runners.

I also fitted Altro flooring for the same reasons (well my mate did as he does it for a living) as long as it is fitted correctly it should last many years, we do also loose fit in some carpet as it is quite harsh on your feet and will soon wear holes in your socks.

many years ago parked at Taghazoute we noticed every morning this weird woodpeckery sound drifting across from the 'proper' german campers across the way. realised it was dozens of hausfraus on their knees trying to brush the sand off their carpets with little hand held brushes.
to be fair , we had cork tiles , which the kids with their sandy shoes wore through in 2 months . had timber floors ever since

We have vinyl flooring in our van. Dead easy to brush the dust out of our rear doors.

We rolled up the carpets when we bought the van and put them in our loft. It's the sensible thing to do.

During the winter, to keep our toes cosy, I bought some offcuts from our carpet shop for a fiver donation to their charity. They'll go away until next winter.

We have removable capets, but always have them down. When away we clean them using a dustpan and brush or little 12v vac, which works remarkably well. A thorough clean with a Dyson after every return home.
Our van originally had white ? carpets which the dealer agreed to change, so we have them stored as they do look nice if we ever wished to sell. The carpets have weathered well over 7 years of use.

I fitted the foam interlocking floor tiles. They are warm to stand on with no socks, easy to wipe and brush clean and add an extra layer of insulation. We also have a couple of absorbent runners to soak up the wetness from big muddy paws, and last but not least they are cheap (Costco).

th

The stuff above, from Costco. Soft and warm on the hoof, easy to remove a tile when require access to one off, the under floor storage areas.

Works for us.

Do you find they sweat or get damp coming in with wet shoes?
