CamperNE go under

Thanks, we did that and it appears to be clear. It was complicated in that we put a cherished number on the van a couple of months after purchase. The HPI company requested a further £5.00 to make that check, costing us £15 in total, but peace of mind assured. We are still a bit shell shocked over the Camper NE directors apparent behaviour and feel sorry for all those brilliant staff caught up in this sorry affair with whom we had built up a terrific working relationship over those years.

So, 30 odd years ago we had a car on finance, we visited the office a few Months into the agreement and paid off the finance to a salesman we knew by name. Year later my wife and I were arrested in our home and taken to police station charged with not paying ? , 2 reps from finance company were there when we explained and proved by receipt we had paid, went very quiet and no further action taken. This in my opinion is an internal fraud by someone but certainly not you,so as long as you have proof of payment, get a solicitor to write to them and ask for compensation for the stress you are under.

Very pleased for you.

We were have been regular customers of Camper NE for over 6 years and bought our first NEW Hobby from them last May. There was a degree of delay before we picked it up having paid an initial holding deposit in cash and paid the balance by bank transfer. Should we be worried?
HPI your vehicle now just in case they’ve raised finance in it -you never know .

This is really hard to write. Will try and make this short. Received a letter Wednesday from a finance company, saying they owned our Motorhome, we thought it was a scam, we tried phoning CamperNE, could not get through. After doing some searching found they have the receivers in. We then done a HPI check to find we had finance on our MH. Could not believe how shocked we were. We bought the MH at the caravan and Motorhome show at the NEC Birmingham, paid the deposit and they gave a price for our old MH.
A week later went to pick it up, paid the remainder in full, no finance a brand new MH.
2 1/2 years later we get the shock of our life. CamperNE did not pay of the finance. We always have done a HPI check when buying a private sale, whether a motorhome or cars, we never thought we needed to when buying new from a dealer again never any problem’s.
Now we are waiting to hear from the finance company how much is owed on it, assuming it’s the original price and now expecting to lose our MH.
Has anyone come across this before and has anyone ever or knows of anyone that has succeeded in keeping their vehicle without paying an exorbitant amount, do not have a lot of hope at the moment.
Please everyone if your not certain have a HPI check done on your vehicle whether it’s a second or new one(CamperNE put finance back onto some of the MH after it had cleared. These people have a better chance of keeping theirs. Ours had finance on from the beginning).
We did not pay with a credit card, bank transfers.

So sorry to hear of the situation you find yourself in. How awful and stressful for you. Hope it gets solved soon in your favour.

Hello fellow wild campers, good news. Today I heard from the finance company. They have said, they are relinquishing any HPI they have over the camper van. I will give them a couple of weeks before I check, he did say not to bother wasting £20, I said I made that mistake before.

Really feel for you and hope you get it sorted out and that them shits get put away . If you need any back up stories to help your case I am more than willing to put a statement together for you as I purchased a motorhome from them a year ago and soon found problems , but with it being a long way from where we live we took it to CamperUK in Lincoln to check it out and was told the bad news that it was rotton underneath and needed £1000 spending on it to make it road worthy . We threatened them with court and they did pay up eventually . Needless to say we did a part exchange there and then at camperUK and luckily ended up with a fantastic MH
