It depends on why you feel you need a remap Thea.
My primary reason was because my egr, exhaust gas recirculating valve, kept clogging up on a regular basis and always at an inconvenient time. This would bring the van to a standstill and was very annoying, not to mention how dangerous it could be, it happened once on the M25 and another time on the A14 which doesn’t even have a hard shoulder!
I decided to do away with the egr valve and was told unless the red warning light on the dashboard came on, I would be fine.
I was advised that IF the warning light came on, the van would soon go into limp mode and we would be back to square one.
After about two weeks, the red light did come on, and so I rang a local company to see what, if anything, could be done.
They had it for about two hours before announcing that the egr valve and the problems associated with it, would not give us any more trouble ever!
I’ve had a couple of emission tests since then, and the readings are just getting better, and the performance is solid.
I personally have so much more confidence in the van, and will be very reluctant if ever we have to ‘let her go’.
Hope all is well with you Thea, stay safe. xx
