Just a note that should be added here. It IS illegal to tamper with any part of a vehicles emissions system in the UK, (that's including EGR and DPF valves).

Must be knocking on 30 years when I blanked off the egg on my V6 Vectra, was easy on them, just unbolt, fit blanking plate under EGR job done. Have heard of some folks getting caught out with DPF disabled/removed at MoT time but can't say I have noticed anyone getting caught with EGR removed.

Its best to be aware of things I think, not saying all laws should be obeyed by any means, we are all grown ups so we can each decide

i got quoted £700 for a new axle +20% vat but got to come from italy so had to be paid for up front if i had a hope of making the orkney ferry on the 12th delivery quoted for the 9th , but thanks for the offer sam

Our bent chassis was £10,500 to straighten and the kerb drop was no worse than a pothole! So a good result. Good luck with the timing for the ferry.

My motorhome is an automatic/manual one. I drive in automatic all the time. Not a high mileage, about 45k I think.
I just hope it's not too an expensive job.

Its just a normal manual with a auto clutch, so may well be as my post.

after trotter blowing up his engine marie having problems and jeff having a heater leak took mine to get timing belt & service at wullys mate while up here he phoned back and said you’ve got a bent rear axle ?? couple of months back i went through a chicane & clipped rear wheel causing a dent in the rim put spare on and got a new rim & tyre from e bay , been driving around without a thought but this is definitely bent causing tyre to wear on inside new part £750 sweating on delivery though quoted 9th july which will make my 12th crossing tight

Hope you get sorted in time for the rally, gives extra days breathing space, Northlink have been very good at changing our crossing (twice) no charge either!

We are having the timing belt, tensioner and water pump replaced next Wednesday, hope they have got the right parts as we are on the road to Orkney on Thursday

I'm having an MOT on Thursday next. It had better pass, we're off to Norway on the 20th. . . . . . .
I've given it a polish so that should sort it . .


OOPS bad English. I should have said my Transit is going in for its MOT, I have had lots of MOTs at various surgeries and hospitals lately so I don't need any more.

Wow, glad that's a Fiat part not a Hymer part... you'd have to part-exchange a kidney!!

In reality, Hymer don't make many parts.
They assemble motorhomes from bought-in parts.
You can often get the part without going through the Hymer mark-up system.
