Just ringing round for prices on cambelt change. For interest I thought I would try Fiat Professional.
Very helpful lady told me on the 2.3 I don’t have to worry about changing the water pump at the same time.
Whereas if it were the 2.2 it is best advice to change the water pump as well.
Is this correct ?

According to those on the Fiat forum when I checked for our 2.3 van, it is common sense to change it with the cam belt, particularly on a high mileage vehicle as the labour costs for replacing just a failed pump would be considerable. That said it is true that Fiat Professional will tell you that the replacement of the pump on a 2.3 version is not scheduled maintenance as they are supposed to last the lifetime of the van.

last time my belt was changed, the water pump showed signs of leaking so was replaced. It would have been anyway regardless.

Had our timing belt and water pump [plus diesel filter, because our usual independent garage keeps well clear] repleced in August 2025 by Graham Logan of Logan Vehicle Services [ex Fiat Professional Technician who still gets difficult jobs passed on from the Fiat Professional Garage ...]. £893.90 compared to Fiat Professional quote of £2233.87 ... Quality work at just under 1/2 the Fiat Professional Labour Rate
