Collective Nouns

You are correct and far from confused. An example- cuddly colin constantly confuses costings but also, chasing colin constantly. Both alliteration and don't need letters to be exactly the same, just similar. Many everyday words such as mickey mouse, Donald duck Paypal etc etc. are the same thing. The old one of peter piper picked a peck of pickled peppers is a great example!

Got it. Thanks for that, teejay.

Chasing Colin isn't alliteration. Cuddly Colin is. It's the sound at the beginning of words that must be the same.

where i come from it's
a 'bung' of polticians
i'd suggest
a 'de-stink-tion of cassettes
and a 'conflagration' of chain saw operators

All three work well for me. Thanks Mr. Brown. I'm chuffed that you've joined in.

In my example. I did not write Chasing Colin. I wrote Chasing Colin constantly. The alliterative phrase in there is Colin constantly. Its all about the sound of the first consonant. Chasing Charles would be alliterative as the syllables are the same.

As I said ...

It's "A multitude of motorhomes"..........and I have proof.

Pottering north across Lanzarote yesterday I could see on the horizon a Guardia Civil vehicle with it's orange lights flashing with lots of white boxes behind it. It looked odd but, because of a bend in the road and their distance away, I thought something was happening out on the lava field. As we neared I realised that it was the Guardia Civil with an unbroken line of motorhomes strung out behind.
I counted 60 or so motorhomes before I found somewhere safe to pull over and counted another 130 or so before the tail end Guardia Civil passed us. So perhaps 200 Mohos in all.
What an out of place experience! I've seen large groups of Mohos before but they were staying on an aire and mostly independent of each other. This must be a group of Spanish owners from the mainland and I'm wondering if they drove down through Morocco and caught the ferry from there or alternatively used the ferry directly from Spain.
They were headed for the south of the island so I may see them later this week. If I do I'll try to make contact with a view to discussing grey and black waste, solar panels, generators, topping up with water etc. etc.

Or not.

Here's the proof you've been patiently waiting for. Please share your own collective noun phrase for this phenomenon.

A massing of.......Colin.

As always another attractive attempt at alliteration, methinks.
