So a 2 part thread.
1 digital stills ..
Many cameras can include. A date stamp. Within the image.
Although I do not like this it can help as copying images can cause the dad
The stamp of the. File to change.
This has happened to me revently in copying images over wifi snd also to NAS storage.
(Similarly with dashcam)

Most of my images this year have the date stamp in the image.
This is handy but can be removed.
There are clever ways to do this but with my images simple cropping is simplest and usually also enhances the edited image which will obviously now have a new file date stamp.
Maybe save it with a suitable name is 29thJuly 01 etc.

Dashcam footage can include the date stamp but again I prefer not to.
Either do a clapperboard wth the date or simply speak it at the beginning of recording..
This can be edited out when compiling a project using many of the clips.
I usually have a folder per day for the raw footage.
I am sure others will have their solutions but today The date issue seemed more of a problem than usual.

A camera image may or may not have the date and time printed in the image, but they nearly all have that information (and much more) in the exim data embedded in the file.

The file's creation date and modification date are set by the host's file system and are not all that reliable, but quite often photos have a filename with time and date info in there.

Failing all else, they are usually numbered consecutively, so you can see their relative age and work back from that.

Exactly !
Copying via the sony app and camera wifi seemed to confuse dates and similar with recopying dashcam files to NAS.
I keep a travel log anyway.
And new camera has gps so.....
It was just fussy this year as the file dates changed on copying ?

Generally, if you can transfer files by FTP it preserves the file date (well, it can if set that way) but windows copy and paste is not so good

It seems "Android copy and paste" Is my problem !
Before when I only used laptops/PCs (windows) ..I could rely on the date created date
Copying via my android tablet and via wifi (which I now do) has thrown up the issue.
You live and learn ???
Ps thrown up was deliberate !
I still have a pc but when on the road I am "completely robotic".
I will remove the memory card from my camera and see ehat happens using pc amd card reader.
