Will it go through the onboard regulator or have its own, I to have a 30w small panel for the screen but never used so far.I have ordered one of these for the neg terminal on the battery. Annie will be able to isolate the battery whilst the van is stored.
I can still connect a small solar panel to the windscreen which can be connected to the non-isolated side.

I have a small AA panel somewhere in my container they I will try and find on Monday. Will it go through the onboard regulator or have its own, I to have a 30w small panel for the screen but never used so far.
No, you need to add the leads. It does come with cables that can just be plugged into the cigar lighter if it works with the car keys taken out.what is one of these little solar thingies to sit on dashboard.......,does it already have leads to connect it to battery..........many thanks
Small dash panel, behind glass is unlikely to generate enough charge to need to worry about a regulator....No use as it is direct to batteries, there must be a regulator inbetween.
Many are useless at this as AC with no diode, you require min one amp for losses due to brains/alarms etc.Small dash panel, behind glass is unlikely to generate enough charge to need to worry about a regulator....
Especially in the darker months
No Trev, you don't need a regulator because the output is low. Just enough to stop battery going flat.No use as it is direct to batteries, there must be a regulator inbetween.
Trevor, the only way you’ll see alternating current out of a solar panel is when you are driving though an avenue of trees with the sun at right angles to the trees. Many are useless at this as AC with no diode, you require min one amp for losses due to brains/alarms etc.
Same here as i have 2 of them, I find at least 40/50w min to be of any use.I bought one of those little 20W panels you stick on the dash. Found it useless.
True i ment no regulation or not working because of no diode, I have 2 of these we bits of cr-p, wont even charge a very small m bike battery.Trevor, the only way you’ll see alternating current out of a solar panel is when you are driving though an avenue of trees with the sun at right angles to the trees.
How old is your motorhome? I had similar and it turned out it needed new earth straps, once I replaced them like a new van.I've done it again. Went to turn over engine at storage; not a flicker dead as the proverbial Dodo. Happened earlier in the year and battery was replaced. So if won't charge if mechanic can get to me any suggestions please for other causes. All electrics were left off and radio taken out. Thankd
Hi. I used a small solar panel as advised by garage but useless and it had to replace battery. The extreme cold can be responsible for battery failing. I've a cheap charger that I plug in if I can't take the van for a drive but best option is to take it for a run every so often. I do this about every 3/4 weeks now. About 60+ round trip. Problem with taking off the battery is it can mess up the immobiliser I think. Any comments on this.A small solar panel sat in the windscreen can keep the battery topped up.
If you need me to I could take the battery off and charge it for you and refit it on boxing day or the morning of the 27th.
Better to use a smart charger rather than the old battery boilers.Hi. I used a small solar panel as advised by garage but useless and it had to replace battery. Worked for me on my T4.I bought one of those little 20W panels you stick on the dash. Found it useless.
Just over 1.6 amps hr, little if any charge, would just about keep the battery ok if nout used.Worked for me on my T4.
