Do you wave?

Sometimes wave ,but if I'm felling grumpy I stick my tongue out .
Whatever!! Not sure I would spot the tongue. Two fingers maybe!!!!
Life’s too short to be grumpy!!!?

Usually wave as long as not concentrating on particular part of driving.
Occasionally frantically side to side that amuses the wife!!!!

As a Biker, we generally acknowledge each other, as a plastic pig driver, we did the same, so in the MoHo it is second nature to acknowledge other MoHos, but I don't wave per se, just put a hand up, top right of the screen so quite visible to the none ignorant drivers, and yes even on motorways/dual carriageways. I don't look to see if the reciprocate, if I see a van on the other side I just put my hand up, if they see fine of not fine, Mohos large and small, the little ones look surprised, the big ones look bemused, Tesco sometimes wave back :D :D, VW drivers are really a waste of energy, too far up their own back passage to wave back, even when we had a transporter based MoHo.

As an ex-biker and an ex-plastic pig driver (used to have a Supervan III with back window conversion) I know what you mean. Except on motorways, I always put a hand up but it seems 50/50 at to whether the oncoming motorhomer will wave back. Those in older vans seem more inclined to wave and I wonder if those in new-ish vans might consider it beneath them to acknowledge a 17 year old moho?!

I think you're right Geoff re newer van drivers, but I find on smaller roads like up in the Highlands they do wave back, but I never take any notice on motorways etc so can;t comment on if they wave or not, I do my bit so I'm happy.

Yes I always wave, it's very nice to get a wave back as I travel alone. Don't always get one though. I do wave at campers but very rarely get a wave back

I drive a converted VW transporter and find most VW drivers tend to wave at each other, but not necessarily to motor homes. Mind you the VW work van drivers look bemused and never wave back. VWs have their own hand wave forming a W shape with their thumb and little finger stretched out and the 3 other fingers clenched like a fist. Have not noticed any motorhome drivers ever wave at me though.

Wave on single cariageways. We sometimes play a game to see who waves first. Some coachbuilt and A class you cannot see into the cab to see the wave. Sometimes you get a double - driver and passenger !

Always find VW campervans are too cool to wave. Likewise it is uncool to wave at Tesco vans !

I give the responsibility to wifey (in the passenger seat) because I miss those who do wave on motorway/dual-carriageway. Or I wave if she's driving.

We do but we drive an older van (T reg) and most newer vans don’t acknowledge us waving

Sorry Tehah, that's probably me, I always try to wave to others but Tesco delivery vans catch me out and so I need to get quite close before I can identify vans and some of the older vans are not so obvious unless you are a high top or coach built etc.

Ive done this for years one way or another, nodding whilst on my motor bike, giving a hand gesture which represents a vw sign whilst driving my splitty and now for the past 10 years Ruth finds it amazing and amusing that people wave back when she waves. Of course i cant wave i have my eyes firmly fixed on the road

my hubby got carried away waving at everyone some years ago and ended up clashing mirrors with another van because he wasn't watching what he was doing and it would be a ruddy Frenchman arrogant bugger at that, anyway £300 later and ruined insurance no claims I now do my best to discourage him

Usualy wave unless i am watching an idiot in front, its an interesting post and it has set me thinking about waves etc., in the old days 1950 +long before CBs and mobile phones, lights and hand signals were used all the time to let you know what was up ahead, police car, hold ups, problems, weight watchers, etec.etc., if it was day light -- hand signals, if it was dark--cab light.
Its surprising what you remember when somee one wakes up the gray matter.
Thank you.
Ken

Yes we wave and even had another hobby but 750 with passenger waving both hands and arm and bouncing up and down. Hope she is better now and it wasent just a reaction to something else .
