European sunshine birds 2025

we’re at an aire on the banks of the gironde just above bordeaux as well as a beautiful old town there is the obligatory vineyard before going for a taste thought i’d look it up too rich for my blood , the citadel dates from the 16th century but during ww2 the germans dug into the cliffs below and built massive fuel tanks 7 of them each holding M10 ltrs View attachment 77025View attachment 77026
Get a few o the guid stuff Ken😳

Landed at Biarritz just before lunchtime, been for a lovely walk around the big lake with Roxy 🐶, the temperature is 23 degrees with sunshine but the wind has a slight chill with it, looks like a taste of things to come 😱
Did you find somewhere good to park up?

As many of you know, Rob (Hayhiker) and I, often travel in Europe together. A mutual aid group, as it were.
As a result of my future Pacemaker replacement 🙏, I’ve had to visit the hospital fairly often.
Now with a month free of obligations, appointments’n stuff. I’ve finally got away.
I caught a ferry from Dover - Dunkirk early Monday 29 October, following a CRMC race meeting at Brands Hatch.
Wandered fairly aimlessly for a week or so. Just happy to be out in the van again. It never seems to amaze me, what you can find, 🎼 With no particular place to go🎼.
For the last few days I’ve been in an area, that obviously was a fairly large, now disused village railway station.
St Etienne D’Albagnan. There’s a public toilet, restaurant, bins and water. No grey or black waste. But hey, you can’t have everything.
What it does have, is a walk/cycle path that is a joy to walk.
I do seem to be a long way from any shops. So my meals could be interesting over the next few days.

I’m going to try to make my stock last until Rob passes by towards the vets and the ferry, and then join up for the return ferry. I’ve loads of pasta, rice and tins of stuff. I know I won’t go hungry, but losing a few pounds wouldn’t hurt.

See you at Hereford

Monday 29th Gordon. Got the early boat to Dieppe.
Managed to get to the last meeting of the Classic Racing MC at Brands Hatch. It’s good to be back after 20 odd years away. A chance meeting with a lad , who I trained up as a marshal all those years ago, got me interested again. The classes have changed a bit over the years. You wouldn’t believe how fast these Manx Nortons and AJS’s go now. All the fastest guys are on replicas. Old tech, new materials. I’m happy to wave a flag now, and leave the running of the meet to others.
My first commitment will always be MH.Com. I know I’m a bit of a slapper, but I won’t go wiv anyone .

The Van ? All good so far. Pretty much run in now, and pulls well. Happily, my hurry up and wait days are long gone.
