Hiya the Laird,
Where have you gotten?
We are headed that way as The Rain in Spain falls mainly on the Plain is not true.
We are just south of France at Aines, heading into the Pyrenees tomorrow.

Glad to read the good suggestions, makes it easier for me to decide.

So is the sun out in Bordeaux? The weather radar suggests it will be today - bloody better be true after the effort we have done from La Marina since Sunday.

Hope to meet for a casual chat.

Put a post up Stan

South of Bordeaux, I've stayed on the free aire at Cadillac, https://www.campingcar-infos.com/Francais/cci.php?numero=341 Pleasant small town on the Garonne.
North of Bordeaux, in addition to Blaye and Blanquefort (see my post on WildCamping), there are aires at Cubzac-les-Ponts (no services) and Saint-Romain-la-Virvée (with services).
Numerous good wilding locations west of Bordeaux on the Atlantic coast and aires on the Bassin d'Arcachon and by the lake at Sanguinet (see WildCamping location app for all these).
Great market on Saturday in Cadillac

Blaye is really nice on the river nr very old convent. Very close to town.

As you may be aware, we have got waylaid by different stops. One of the delights you experience when travelling.
Today we MUST get food, opened last milk carton for T, used last fridge food last night, no bread, 1/2 box cereal left. Have box of porridge oats as a backup.
Weather here suggests rain tomorrow, but will be sunny over the next mountain range, so aiming to keep ahead of the wet.
DO Like the Blaye Wine Fest idea suggested by RUGBYKEN - not big winos, but do enjoy the odd one, so have chance of 10 variants, yummy.
Saudi F1 to plan for Sunday also, so with a fair wind will be near S. Bordeaux by Wed latest. Hope there is space for a little one at the site.
C ya soon'ish.

If you have porridge, you can survive for a week! 'as a back up'? The very idea! It's breakfast 365 days a year for us, but we do have a mild crisis; no bananas left to slice onto the porridge, and we're well over 1/2 way down the last bag of walnuts for the topping ... Mercadona delivery to the aire ...? 🙄🤭

Steve

Bananas and walnuts?...there's posh you are Steve!:D

The only time I was anywhere near posh was when I worked at
House, Peterborough, Graham. It's across the road from Posh's football ground ... ☺️

:ROFLMAO: - didn't think Walnuts were available in Scotland.
Had Spanish walnut cheese the other week, bit too much cheese for my taste.

We get them shipped in under cover of darkness, so the English don't pinch 'em ... 👍
But we found a space on the Vilafranca del Pinedes aire (mobbed with 5 Vans camped in the Car Park ...), 300m from Mercadona, so 4 bags of walnuts acquired and restocked on bananas as well. Plus 3 boxes of Coffee Filter Papers (€1.50 per 100). And I got my prescription renewed last night (€76 ...), so pressure is off, and we can stay as long as we wish, just to see how long it can rain without a break for ...

Yes, and the Pharmacy didn't ask for proof of need. I just produced my phone, where I have all the medication listed (in case I have a problem so at least the medics know what my problem is likely to be, besides having very little Spanish! I have a double prescription, but started it a couple of days before we left Scotland, and the medication lasts only 28 days, so a 60 day trip (which we may extend) is likely to leave me about a week short of medication. Thought it best to confirm that I could get all the tablets before my stock got too low (UK prescription invariably has to be delayed 2-3 days for Ibabradine to be obtained and the Licence Holder is different on each occasion). This is a consequence of Brexit that was widely reported in UK Press around 2019. The Spanish Pharmacy was awash with Ivabradine, and all long dated stock so I am both happy and relieved!

Handy to know . As I say I just do a double order . Have to phone the doc of course .
At hospital the day I came away and consultant changed the dosage of one of my drugs .
He was a little surprised I was heading off there and then !
Fortunately he gave me a prescription for the hospital pharmacy .

Couldn't you have sorted a triple prescription before leaving Steve? Surely a phone call would do it wouldn't it?

We already have all our prescriptions on 2 month supply as a matter of course - using the excuse that we live very rural we don't get into town that often. When we go away I make a phone call to the surgery and explain that we will be away for X amount of days/months and they then double the existing list up where required.

No, Graham. 2 months maximum supply (or 56 days in reality), and there is an NHS stipulation (reinforced inconsistently in different parts of UK) that if you are absent from your locality for 3 months or more, you should be removed from your GP's List. My GP says that I visit infrequently, so could be months between visits, and if I ask for 2 months supply of medication, he assumes that my trip is for 2 months, so he doesn't need to worry about his List ...
Given the patchiness of supply of Ivabradine, I suspect that the Regs will begin to be applied more rigorously. I have had a prescription request declined when reordering after about 5 weeks. €75 for an extra 28 days medication is a cheap way of extending the stay, and I know that I am paying 'List Price' for my pills, so I am not freeloading on the Spanish Health System; I am also saving the Scottish NHS a few quid, but I doubt that I'll get a tax rebate ... 🙄

Didn't know that . Glad , for myself , the rules are applied inconsistently .
Though , in your circumstances , the doctor should be a bit more flexible

Over a period of a year or so, I used to reorder my prescriptions a week early each time and consequently built up a surplus that can cover a 3 month trip without needing to worry. Never been queried, but none of my meds need to be strictly monitored.
