No, Graham. 2 months maximum supply (or 56 days in reality), and there is an NHS stipulation (reinforced inconsistently in different parts of UK) that if you are absent from your locality for 3 months or more, you should be removed from your GP's List.

Steve

As I said our 'standing order' repeat prescriptions are all for 56 days anyway and a quick phone call to the surgery gives us double that for long trips with no bother. Been doing it for years: where we currently live and where we lived in Cirencester, with no problems.

Presumably when you rang (I guess you did?) they refused?

I've had the conversation with our GP surgery on more than one occasion, Graham. As I said, the Regs are applied/enforced to differing degrees according to your postcode. I'm happy with what we have arranged, and we can extend our stay without feeling guilty or being troubled by pangs of conscience

... got my prescription renewed last night (€76 ...), so pressure is off, and we can stay as long as we wish, just to see how long it can rain without a break for ...

Steve
... also on a prescription, have never used the system in Europe, ... Reading other posts with curiosity. Only need two tablets (at the mo), for arthritis inflammation and pain relief, although had to finish course of Steroid while travelling initially.
Interesting that 3 mths is potential for Dr List removal ... never realised.

... cloud just arrived at end of the bike race here in Lourdes. We are going to head back to aire for tonight, parked in town last night - big mistake, moved early up to bike race to save the knees walking. Shame didn't do it last night.

Furry muff Steve. Strange though that they are enforced/not enforced so arbitrarily however we can both enjoy guilty conscience free travelling then.

Think we have the superior legal right to stop illegal imports - until Nickerla gets her way.
:):giggle:
We don't wish to deter immigrants; Scotland needs more incomers to reach its economic potential, and Scottish immigrants contribute something in excess of £10 per second to the Scottish economy

All haggis eating whisky drinkers I guess.

Lourdes was a hotty yesterday.
Clouded over after 3pm a little.
We are heading upwards, towards Bordeaux, via Tarbes, then ...? wherever the road takes us.

When nearer Bourdeaux will shout for your location to say Hello ooh... (bloody predictive text).

Hellooo Mr Laird,
Am at Nogaro motor race track. Been looking for your location so a question to answer please.
Are you near the river & football club?

Morning,
Have woken to cloudy skies, also chill in air.
Looked for your exact location, not 100% on maps, choice of 2 places.
Need warmth not cold for knees so checked forecasts and see rain, showers and sleet/snow heading across and down France.
So as to not lose opportunity, have decided to go East towards Bezieres, to get to Agde.
.

May get a chance to meet up later, or in UK at a rally.

We went to site in Montendre called "Twin Lakes" nice site with all facilities nothing to fancy but good bar, good food and owner let us (everyone on site) use his car to nip up to the supermarket/shops
Been there a few times and agree 100% great stop when en route to Spain.

another + for the citadel at Blaye but just realised i’ve booked my ferry from bilboa and Blaye wine festival is on 2-3april it’s a fantastic event i’ve managed to attend 3 times your ticket an engraved glass allows you to sample wines from 80 different vineyards all on stalls within the citadel it’s on for about 3 days , various events included in the ticket including a cruise round the estuary train ride etc think the tickets last time were €5 fantastic
Which day are you going back from Bilbao?

You are agreeing with yourself there Tjay as you posted the post you quoted in post #53 :D

you got me wondering sue then i realised that post was from last year

Couldn't you have sorted a triple prescription before leaving Steve?
We already have all our prescriptions on 2 month supply as a matter of course - using the excuse that we live very rural we don't get into town that often.
We get ours delivered by these people in 8 yrs never had a problem
Our Doctor has never refused a 3 month prescription in at least 12 yrs he says it's what we are entitled to

Different rules apply across different NHS in the UK constituent countries. I am happy with the 2 months supply and to treat the 3rd [and subsequent months] purchase of medication in Spain and/or France as part of the holiday expense
