Hi All. We are hopefully embarking on our annual trip to France on the 12 April for 4 weeks. I was wondering whether any members are currently in France and if they are experiencing any problems with getting diesel fuel. Thanks

No supply problems reported, but financial pain at the price which has been reported at more expensive than UK diesel ...

Steve

I heard on French radio the other day that the French government has authorised the sale of diesel that is OK down to 0°C rather than -15°C in order to ensure supplies at the pumps.

We crossed over into France today, looked at the price of a litre of diesel at intermanch, €2.33, far more expensive than the UK, I just hope the French don't start protesting and blocking roads like that usually do when they aren't happy, pleased to report no panic buying g here but the roads seemed really quiet today, perhaps the French are using there cars less now.

We have been monitoring prices between Calais and just north of le mans, expect to pay between 2.20 euros and the highest we saw on the motorway services 2.60 euros, I am glad I filled up at Canterbury, but now down to half a tank, so I had better get saving up 😱

In France at the moment, travelling back from the South West, been out here for past 4 weeks, no issues with diesel being available but it's now up to 2.35 + per litre, we driving at no more than 60mph, in the car. Noticed just one service area without any fuel, we are topping up at every supermarket we pass. Weather is rubbish, rain rain and more rain.

We’ve been here for a few weeks and today was the first time we went into a garage and there was no diesel. We are in the Loire. Also seen it as high as €2.8!

I topped up today at Belerac, paid €2.29 it only took €23 to top up the tank, as I'm keeping it topped up in case of any fuel shortages. We are now at a free aire in Vievzon, there is a Total energies garage 5 minutes away so will top up there in the morning, which will easy get us back to Dieppe, I'll see if it has gone up from €2.09 I paid at another total energies gas station 2 days ago. I've noticed that the service stations on the A roads are now charging 1.09 litre for GPL.

Total energies are definitely the cheapest for diesel in France, filled the motorhome up today at Poitiers at €2.09 litre, bit there was a queue.
Total Energies put a temporary ceiling on prices, which is why they have been cheaper than most other filling stations. However, the result has been that motorists have tended to seek out the Total Energies filling stations, causing them to run out of fuel. Currently, approximately 10% of filling stations in France have run out of at least one type of fuel and the Easter holiday is expected to aggravate shortages.

2.259€ today at Intermarché at Lassay Les Châteaux. Seen Total Energies at less but they had no diesel. Generally supermarkets, which used to be cheaper, now have higher prices, but at least they haven’t run out….yet!

I topped up today at Total energies at Vievzon and that was the same price for regular diesel as well as there excellium diesel, they had run out of regular diesel, so I put the excellium Diesel in at €2.09.
We are heading for Dieppe tomorrow so will see if the station they have in Dieppe has fuel and fill it up if it's €2.09, saves messing about at Newhaven Sainsbury's and I can't see it been much cheaper in the UK. Can't believe how expensive the supermarkets here are charging for fuel, they used to be the cheapest. Must be raking it in if total energies can make a profit selling it 20 cents a litre cheaper. The only thing with the Total petrol stations is there's always a bit of a queue, it didn't help today that there was a delivery tanker on the forecourt unloading today so it was blocking two of the pumps off.

The first garage was out of diesel in Dieppe waiting on a tanker delivery in the afternoon, but we went to another one about 8 kms from the Ferry terminal, which had plenty of diesel, again it was €2.09.

Agree with previous posts re Total Énergie. Unfortunately they tend to run out as they are much cheaper than even the supermarkets. Under normal circumstances, they're more expensive.

This is a useful government site to use:

Finally back home in Blackpool., got the 6.00am ferry from Dieppe this morning, we were loaded first and then first off the boat, was part way up the ramp and got stopped by security as pedestrians had decided to walk down the ramp to board the ship, eventually they were denied boarding and turned around, so this delayed us by half an hour. We've been travelling all day to do just 311 miles. We set off at 9.30 am from Newhaven with a quick stopover at Stratford upon Avon to meet Graham and pick the windbreak up, finally got home to Blackpool at 7.00pm. never seen as much congestion and hold ups, they were even queuing on motorway services on the slip roads. Been spoilt as per usual traveling through Spain and France, not a single hold up. One thing for sure next year I shall make sure our return date to the UK isn't over a bank holiday.
