If you see this cat she is ours she has travelled with us for 11 years she may also have a black pirate harness on. We are on pitch 9. She is very street wise and will return to our MH.
Great day, up to Brough of Birsay by 0900 as walking access is via tidal causeway which is only accessible + - 2 hour from low tide which was 0930 this morning, saw puffin adults and half grown chick's at close quarters on north side, razorbills and guillemots on southside and goosanders and shelducks on causeway. Then went to Orkney Brewery at Quoyloo which have a nice cafe restaurant and did the 20 minute tour of the brewing process and bought 16 various bottles of their very fine range of ales ,, party in my van anytime . Then went to visit the amazing Friends of Orkney Stoneworks small site on outskirts of Kirkwall where John and Anne having created in their spare time a life sized Chevy V8 Truck entirely out of drystone plus a stone mini dome that will hold 8 - 10 people where he broadcasts a live fb feed of musicians from 7.30 to 9.00pm every Friday night for local charities, so far they have raised £129,000. Nancy is doing half a dozen songs tomorrow night along with some local artists. They are also creating various other drystone features all in aid of charities.
A very busy day
I have found a solstice swim! It is tomorrow at 10:00am on the slipway opposite the Sailing Club about 100m from the campsite gate. Weather dependent. Apparently it is not too cold in!
We have had to give up our Orkney adventure I’ve had flu for ten days now B jan has gone down with the same so we have given it best changed our ferry and now left the island , hope you all enjoy the rest of your stay now the weather seems to have improved? our last view of you all
I should add that all swimming is at your own risk. This is not any kind of 'official' swim but the information came from a group of regular swimmers who were leaving the water as we walked past. Some of them will be there tomorrow and we are very welcome to join them. It is definitely more of a dip than a swim. (But neither guacamole nor cheese!)
