habitation checks

For piece of mind, yes. We knew we had a leak on one side of our van but the habitation check we had revealed a leak on both sides. Because the second leak was found early it was a lot cheaper to repair.

I wouldn’t trust anyone to work on my camper and anyway just by using it I am checking it so why pay for someone else to do it

I also like doing all my own repairs / fixes

When my current camper was a year old i had it done by the selling dealer Wasn’t happy at all for what they did and for what i paid , plus the daft bugger had liberally sprayed a silicone spray just about everywhere

I think the question was "NEED" to have one, in the same vein as "do you NEED to have an MOT every year".
Clearly the correct answer was a very simple NO.

in a motorhome that's 10 years old do you need to have a habitation check every year if not selling.
There's definitely no requirement or huge necessity unless there's a current warranty involved. As you say, if I was selling, then of course I'd do it to show the buyers. When I first got my 2nd-hand motorhome, I took it back for the habitation check twice but soon realised that there was little they could do that even I couldn't do myself. I'd naively assumed it would include a bit of attention to the workings of the gas appliances or tightening up the joints on some of the plumbing... but no. After a while I bought myself a damp meter amongst other bits and learned how to check for potential problems and I've always been able to sniff out gas leaks a mile off anyway... well there had to be a reason I was given my awful nose! :ROFLMAO:
