How do YOU use your bus pass?

I think it's scandalous that the "English" Bus pass that doesn't allow us to travel free when in Wales and Scotland also doesn't allow us free travel in Yorkshire WHY ?? I agree it should be all the UK.

You should be able to travel free all over England, why can't you travel in Yorkshire, is it stipulated anywhere?

When I was in Buxton the Derbyshire gold card was the bus pass as well, wasn’t accepted in Hull, not sure about rest of Yorkshire but it was Stagecoach I asked

Never had one and no intentions of getting one, never been on a bus apart from transfers from airport to resort when abroad.
I like to go and return from wherever I'm going when I want, no waiting around in the rain and cold for me waiting for a bus.

I hope you feel better for getting that off your chest ;) ;)

I quite like travelling on a bus. 🙂

No parking issues, mostly stress free travel, a wait in the rain is character building, chatting to fellow travellers (and finding out last week that one was a fellow motorhomer,) and the ability to be thoroughly nosy and peer into fields and gardens not possible from van level.

Down here, it's use it or lose it, as the pass isn't automatically replaced if you don't utilise it. Possibly their diplomatic way of removing the folk who've fallen off their perch. ☹️

I am not really a bus user, but where I do/ would use them is the park & ride services, and that is really the only reason I got mine. And with increasing restrictions and costs driving into town/city centres, that can be cost prohibitive even if you wanted to for some reason.

I'm not too bad about parking in towns as I have a blue badge and in most council carparks it's free, and of course, I can park on double yellows for up to 3 hours if I were to be so inconsiderate, so the bus pass opens up other possibilities.

If you ever had to go into Newcastle City centre you would soon change your mind. :ROFLMAO:

I use Bus and Metro normally but used a Taxi lately. The place is not car friendly. It takes longer to find a parking spot than it does to travel there on Public Transport. :(

And what do you do with folk on the bus with flees, then there is the big fat woman who sat beside me when i was young and let the biggest fart ever, then there is the drunks to contend with, not for me. ;)

Are you seeing a doctor for your paranoia yet Trev, if you don't have a bus pass then the thread doesn't include you does it.

I remember the last time I got on a bus....
Walked to the back of the bus and sat next to this beautiful chinese girl.
She was looking a bit down so I asked her what was wrong? She said she had just come out the doctors and she still had the same problem :(
What is that, I asked her.
She said she was a nymphomaniac but she only got turned on by Scottish Cowboys.
By the way, my name is Jessica, she said.
Nice to meet you, I replied. My name is Hopalong MacDougal.

(and thanks to Stephen Wright for that story)

  The boys will be around in the wee small hours.

Make sure you do do.

Like pensions, the government keep increasing the age that you qualify so sadly I will never see one

Apparently, English Bus Pass is set at 65 (and current pension age is 66). Scottish Pass is 60.
Free prescriptions in England is only 60 also
