How long have you been into Motorhoming and what was your first Motorhome

Hi a lot of you have been into motorhoming for a long time, we have been in just approximately 10 years this Sept

Our first motorhome was a Grandusa Pegaso over cab bed

This was our first upgrade from a Trailer Tent

We part exchanged it against a Hymer

13 years.
2005 - 2010 Burstner Elegance i680
2010 - 2017 Frankia i7400
2018 - ???? Hymer Mli 570

Every motorhome excellent in it’s own way and generally fault free but changed from time to time due to changing circumstances (eg arrival of grandchildren)

This belonged to my parents in law 1973 but my first husband and I used it more than they ever did yes not a MH
We did a lot of tent and trailer tent campin our first conversion was a Nissan prairie (pope mobile)
then we tugged for a while that is our 3rd caravan then we bought a Ford campervan

Yes 4 they are showing on mine.

I got into Moho-ing about 4 years ago pretty much on a whim having been a camper for years. I only looked at half a dozen Mohos before buying the present one and don't have any regrets. I got very lucky!

Sue and I have always camped, had a few posh holidays too though Our first was Easter 1968 in a small ridge tent then we bought a frame tent from MFI via Exchange & Mart for 19 gns, it came with everything we needed and over the years we replaced the tatty stuff that came with it and used it for about 20 years. Bought the first of our 3 caravans from a friend for next to nothing and sold the tent with all the gubbins for £35. We eventually had 2 caravans, one here in the UK and another in a friends barn in Normandy. A little over 4 years ago I found that the handballing involved with yanking caravans into positions was something that I could no longer do, so we decided that enough was enough and sold our UK van and gave away the French one (they were both over 20 years old) and that was it-no more camping. Then a relative conveniently died and left us a lump of money. We did the usual thing eg. double glazing, new roof on the extention and of course a new (to us) car. It was then that we realised there was a big hole in our lives, we had no tin 'ut !! A tuggable was out of the question, so it had to be a motor caravan--but what? Well we looked all kinds of plastic paradises but they were either too expensive or a pile of rubbish. Then we came across our wonderful Lunar. So the upshot of all this drivel is we have been motorhomers for 4 years, yes it's old (1998) but it's the only layout that suited us and it still left us a little bit of money for the just in case fund. Then we stumbled across this shower of eejits who helped us realise that the right decision had been made.
Thanks WC & Motorhome.com for the wonderful fellowship

I camped in tents since my teens, but in bad weather gazed enviously at folk in caravans and motorhomes sitting there all snug and warm. Got my first van in 2012, a Bentley Ochre, it will probably be my last as well. Strangely enough I haven't tent camped since.

dont have motorhome......a campervan....think it may be a conversion......toyota.........small and cosy......would change inside around if i could.......i like its sleek look. (well i think it looks sleek) and can park it on a street corner etc. just the job....suits us for what we want, for a week away could do with an awning for it.

My own tent on my bicycle at age 12 used to ride to the cotswolds with a friend the same age , age 18 my neighbour used to lend me his brand new trailer tent which his wife eventually gave to me after his death , caravans when my daughter was born so 20 years ago then first brand new motorhome a Laika some 15 years ago !

done tenting most of my life....always found it cosy even in bad weather.......snug as a bug in a rug....even with the rain pattering on the tent,,,,,,plus got outside more....with the caravan, tended to cook in it too where as a tent it was all mostly done in the open.......now i need a bit more comfort, however, look fondly on my tenting days........still have a shed full of various size tents....plus trailer tent and small caravan..which amazingly for antique year is still dry no damp etc g.son likes to use it when he comes to stay.. still have mum and dads palatso frame tent, which we camped in for years...used to go up to coniston lakes most weekends with the boat and camp on a site on the lake shore........

Since I was 18 so 34 years although Ive only owned one for the past ten. My mates dad bought a Commer Caravanette so we all went all over in that for years then we got into VW Campers and me and my pals took off in those until quite recently really. Had the Kontiki for proper motorhoming since 2008.

Autosleeper Amethyst.. 1999 to 2006.. Full timed for 5½ years.

Homecar PR 62 for exactly 5 years. By which time it was falling apart.

Bentley Indigo .. Too lovely a van to consider changing. Will probably be our final MH, too.
