Internet in van ( many thanks to all )went with firestick

Is there a simple, sucker type, to put outside a window with a lead that has a USB C plug direct into my phone?
 
Just a stronger signal to get online if I need to, I'll move if it's important but often just opening a window improves the signal, so I'm thinking there must be a better antenna to stick outside temporarily when needed, I assume it'd need to be a 3.5 jack plug or UEB C for mine.
 
It looks like it can't be done simply, you need to get a booster and then pick up the signal from that.
 
You are still not describing what you are trying to achieve, just how you want to achieve it.
Are you saying that your phone is failing to connect unless held put of a window, or that it connects but the connection is too slow? The signal strength shown on the phone screen is meaningless. Ignore it.
The reason I'm asking is that what you are asking about is almost certainly not going to improve things. The radio and antenna in your phone is going to be better than any cheap USB thing.
The best approach depends on your objectives, what phone model and what mobile network you use, as well as your location. You may find moving to the other side of the van helps more.

If I knew how to achieve it I wouldn't need to ask I think ;) ;)

My phone is fine most of the time but sometimes the signal is weak or none existant, but I might be able to pick up or improve what I have somehow, but it has to be cheap as it's not a biggy and simple or it won't get used.

I tend not to look at the signal strength icon for the reasons you mention.

The phone is a Samsung S10+ as for network, in the eUK Vodaphone, abroad, no idea.
 
Your phone ought to be good. I'm not a fan of Vodafone. They tend to have coverage in most places, but it is very weak signal, and even when the signal is good, the speeds tend to be disappointing.
I would start by trying a different network. On your phone, do a manual network selection search. It will list the networks it detects, in signal strength order, except that Vodafone will be listed first if it is detected at all. Note the top non-vodafone one, and get a SIM card for that network to try. Just a cheap payg will do. Generally, Three is cheapest and EE is best, but that's not true everywhere especially since BT got hold of EE and asset stripped it.

I wouldn't feel happy having the extra power use, though perhaps if the router was on the "always live" circuit I could leave it running.
I don't use storage, so the van is within the home WiFi coverage anyway, but nothing is left switched on, except Bluetooth monitoring.
To connect to that, I have to hold my phone up to a window facing where the van is, so it's not convenient.

No, it has a built in battery and I also plug it into a portable power bank, runs for about 3 weeks
 
Kev bee In touch with ee had few good offers I've been with them for 19 years and had some great ideas been tyre kicking a bit but thanks for your input and advice the other week

I use the hotspot off my 5G phone with an EE sim card. unlimited data download. £9 per month.
I have a monitor in my van attached to a mini PC.connected by bluetooth to my phone.
This means no need for an aerial as I can stream all the TV channels and more!
 
We have a HUAWEI router, and buy a Popit sim when we’re in the EU. Not cheap, but it gives us 100gig a month while we’re away.

£9 is a good price for unlimited EE data. What is the tariff you're on?

I have no Idea. I had an offer from BT to switch to EE (I was paying BT £7 a month for 5 gb ) So I rang the number talked to the person and they said, we do a deal for £9 per month unlimited. I said "will it change after the first month" they no that's what it will cost for the next two years. So I said "Sign me up"
 
Can I thank all folks on here for all advice and input regarding my post ,I decided on fire stick and hotspot to my phone
We have been away just about a week now and thanks to Del(alwaysared)for coding in my hotspot etc I don't think we would've got a signal with the aerial etc but watched football,you tube ,Phil's shorts on you tube😳and would recomend this to anyone thinking on routers etc I have a big go with my Ee contract as I've been over 20years and they are desperate for me to change my contract but no way hosie

I was going to suggest what we have, but probably a but much for the van lol. All of the pc's are off at the moment too, so aren't showing...
