Looking for garage to damaged motorhome

Plastic welding these days, cut and join up in sections, grind smooth and paint or gell coat if fiberglass.
Trev, the roof section will be thin gauge alloy, the trim where wall side meets roof will be alloy extrusion. I would say if a repair is possible, much of the overhead bed section integrity would be questionable.

Maybe the OP can enlighten us as to insurers take on this?

Then weld or epoxy glue new bits in, a big strip out up front will be required if not a r-off.

A micro tig welder with pulse would be required to weld an alloy gauge of around .5mm thick max. Be a specialised fab/weld shop to do such a repair. Problem is with this job if welding, the HAZ (heat affected zone) the area would be annealed due to heat from welding, thus making the area weaker. Although through time the area HAZ area will work harden.

Also, much of these vehicles structural integrity is achieved during the original build process. IMO, the vehicle is an insurance right off.

Not sure you could plastic weld that Trev, it looks to me like an aluminium
outer and ply inner, and could be new sides on both sides plus a roof skin maybe.

Surely that needs to go back to swift I would insist on a factory rebuild ..
Which would mean it's a right off..

Not local. But Glossop Caravans have a fantastic, service and repair centre and the only one in the industry with proper spray ovens and body techs. 01457868011

I used to buy r offs and fix, this one had the inner wing cut in half and a new front end welded in along with the complete front panel hood and wing, sold with minutes of advertising it.red skoda sold.jpg

Sorry to say this but if that was my van I’d want it written off. Thats Never gonna be fixed as good as the van was before accident and the time scale of a repair maybe six months to a year the longer it sits waiting to be repaired it’ll only get worse. You need to talk to insurance company’s accessor if no joy employ your own they should be doing the leg work to find a specialist repair shop. Hope you get a decent result

Things may have changed in the insurance business! When my ceiling was damaged I obtained three quotes and the insurers interacted with and paid the company. My daughter's ceiling was damaged earlier in the year and all the insurers wanted to do was give them money. They couldn't get anyone to quote, let alone do the job, for 6 months. A "friend" asked his builder to stop working on his house for a few days and fix daughter's house: he charged more than the insurer had already given them BUT the insurers then paid out the extra. "Leg work" may have changed hands (or feet) :).

people sometimes do not realise that you can employ your own loss adjuster and the insurance company pays for them, I had to do it when half my house roof blew off in a storm, they wanted to use different tiles I said it would look odd and devalue the house, I got a completely new roof front and back.

How old is this van? It looks like a write-off to me, but that doesn't mean it isn't repairable. It is not unusual for write-off to be repaired.

It is currently hard to find repairers but it's also hard to find replacement motorhomes.

You should think about how much it matters to you to keep this van, or whether you can find a different one that suits you.

Just as well forget this She haven't looked in since 10th August
