I often find it interesting when motorhomes talk about being with like minded motorhomers.
Why you ask, well I tend to do lots of long trips, and never had an issue from the general public, except for one drug dealer (big lad, known as violent so I moved, so I was told by the friend I was visiting for 30 mins) who thinks he owns the road he lives on, but I have had many issues from motorhomers, not about noise, two retired adults no generator, or about overnight stops, never stop near houses or in restricted areas. I do sometimes stop at lay-by’s or other reasonable places for tea etc- who does not?
An example, I left something at a particular house, and had to go back for it. I pulled up within walking distance outside another house. By chance he had a motorhome. Before I had even got out of the cab he was out of his house complaining and demanding I move……despite me saying I am just collecting something he moaned and moaned and stood there ranting away when I got back about 4 minutes later. His house was a corner one- road frontage of his property must be 2-300 yards , high hedge, I don’t even know how he saw me as I was shielded from his house by his motorhome and his hedge.
It is interesting that it always appears to be more modern motorhome owners that complain.
Expect I will be lamblasted for this but……

Never had really any probs here, except last week in Newcastle Co Down when a BMW driver decided to park in the marked camper bay and was ask to move by a chap, his answer was i live here and anyone can park here so feck off.
Wife told me to stay inside our van and not to get involved.

Maybe your Motorhome was nicer than his?

I am sure just like any other walk of life or people with certain hobbies, there will be a number (hopefully small but they will always exist) within that interest who are just a-holes. Best to just blank them out and not worry about it.

We drove down a long track to a beach car park at Villa Real San Antonio at Portugal and parked up , there was a big old American van there and it had another bus type vehicle with it, a very load woman [ BRIT ]came out of the American and said YOU CANNOT PARK THERE you are blocking my sat dish signal , don't intend to park here said just sussing out the parking, any way we moved a distance away from these vans and settled down, about an hour later the Police came round and I walked over to the Police car and asked if it was OK to stay there, the cop replied no camping and winked so we took that to be a yes, After the Police left the loud Woman came out of there van and shouted What did the Police say , I walked over to her and told her what had been said, She then proceeded to tell me that her Husband had had a row a few nights before with some Teenage lads who were riding their bikes around the car park , he ended up pushing one of the boys she said ,. the lads got a bit lairy with the Husband it seems and things got a bit out of hand apparently,
The next day the idiot Husband went to the boys School and made a fuss to the school officials and also moaned to the Police who did nothing says Mrs Loud, , a bit later that afternoon another brit van came in and parked near us and we got chatting to the occupants generally and in the course of the Conversation we told them of our neighbors Problem which I thought they had caused in the first place as the lads were Portuguese and why shouldn't they ride their bikes around like they apparently were ?
Any way about 8 pm that evening My wife said she did not feel comfortable there and wanted to leave, OK I said no worries as we have an agreement that if one of us feels uncomfortable any where we just move on no discussion, so we upped sticks and drove to the then free Aire at Villa Real and settled in, next Morning whilst walking around the aire we saw the Brit van that had been near us at the Beach Squat, the Lady said you must have known something was going to happen at the squat , she said that in the night a fire was lit near the American van and 2 of its tyres had been punchered, the Police came and all hell broke out, apparently several Youths had turned up set the fire and punchered the Tyres and rode off on bikes chanting at the occupants of the American van, the man was arrested apparently , WOW we said my wife had a premonition that all was awry that's why we left, The people in the American van with the extra Vehicle were kicked off by the Police and had to go to Court we heard ,
This couple had caused trouble at SILVES previously when at the Castle Squat , apparently they thought they owned Portugal and could park anywhere and chase others away but at Silves the man again had been arrested and banned from Silves,
That is the only time in 25 years of wandering that we encountered any agro .

You will hear of many Car Wars on estates where folks are very possessive of their perceived parking place outside of their houses , and get into fights with neighbors, it happens all over so it is not unique to Motorhomers . Nowt so Queer as Folks as they say ??

We too have an agreement that if one of us feels uncomfortable anywhere, & we just move, no discussion required, we've only had to move a couple of times, what we do not like is when we have found a nice place, decided to stay a good distance from any other vans then some bleeding oik comes and parks way too close so they can look into our windows, then they put on loud music, and let the kids and dogs run around and just generally be arseholes.

Kids in cars at night are just a thing which happens, usually it's just a meet up with mates, or to have a ciggy or three and they leave us alone, normally not too loud, but now and then you can hear their "music" thumping away and they leave, if there is an interesting car or van I might wander over and chat. Down with the kids me ya know :D :D

That, Kev, is a fair description of what the Upstairs Flat Owner has done to me, the silly bugger down below, who has been crapped on from a great height and left to buy his own bog roll to clean up the mess ...

That is one of the many reasons NOT to live in a flat, lots of other reasons too, other peoples noise, Leasehold problems etc, mind you not all fun living dethatched maintenance etc I have just spent 2 days or parts thereof 40 feet up the chimney fitting a new chimney pot , all done now job to small for the builders or too busy they say ? give me a squat any day hee hee

Now I would call them POIs with emphasis on the I.

Was going to say more but it might make a interesting thread.

Two threads involving squatting in one form or another :D :D I bet no other forum will have that excepting a of course a weight lifting forum.

We don't have leasehold considerations to cope with under Scottish Law, Trigger. Scottish Missives are much more straightforward and equitable!
