My Hymer is poorly sick

When we returned from Druridge Bay we got all the way home before the van lost power and the dreaded engine management light came on.

I really struggled to get the van parked as it had no power and would not rev.

I ordered a set of diagnostic cables and downloaded MultiEUScan (£46 to licence it) and read the fault codes. It turns out to be a DPF problem. But the van has not been cleaning the filter and the regeneration system won't work, it keeps failing.

After hours of messing around, I have found it is a fault with the Differential Pressure Sensor or the pipes the feed it. I can read the sensor and it shows 986 mbar and this reading does change slightly. As 986 mbar is close to atmospheric pressure it makes me think the pipe from the DPF has either come off or has split, but with a split, I would expect a larger pressure change.

But do you think I can find the sensor to check it?

I have been under the van and the pipes disappear into the engine bay, but I cannot trace them any further.

I have had enough for today...

Oh no! I know you'll find the answer and get "Heidi" (sorry, Annie taught me well) back in shape but wise to take a step back and get some rest. Maybe it'll all fall into place tomorrow. By the way, you lost me at DPF o_O
Good luck Phil x

Diesel Particulate Filter, it is part of the exhaust system.

Aww poor hymie hope you get it sorted for Henley as it’s a long way to travel with a poorly van.?

Phil will you stop talking dirty to Jenny you know she loves it.
By the way the exhaust system comes after the DPM and you lost her at the DPM so she won't understand what the exhaust is.
Now I'm confused, I hope Hymie gets better soon.

Very sorry to hear that. Hope it turns out to be an easy fix.

I have ordered a new sensor after reading a post on another forum from someone with the same issue. They used the same software and got the same readings from the sensor and it turned out to be a faulty sensor.

The sensor cost £26 including delivery. Now I just need to find it!

Wonder how much a garage would have charged for diagnosing getting the part and fitting probably scary stuff

I used to have softwar3 that broke down all jobs that could/should be done on cars and gave locations, part numbers time it should take and other info Phil but can’t recall the name. Auto something and of course it was cracked as main dealers tools. That would give you the location of the parts if I can remember (or someone else can) the name.

Good luck

Phil
As you know I do a fair bit of work on bikes but not cars/vans. For most bikes you can get exploded parts diagrams or microfiche diagrams on line giving part nos and the location of parts. Might there be something similar on line for the motor in your van so you can locate the duff part.
Jim.

Take it to a main dealer they will have seen the fault many times . is the power Los as bad as limp home mode .I would doubt it would need PDF regeneration as you do high motorway miles .

Has your adblue tank got blue in it?

The sensor fault has prevented the van from being able to clean the DPF, it is now 68% clogged.
